More than 60 homes in Wimberley were taken off foundations

Residents that have lived on the Blanco River for decades had never seen the water reach levels like it did Saturday night.

“This is the worst one I’ve seen in 25 years,” said Mark Western, a resident of Wimberley. The highest Mark had seen the water reach was touching the Ranch Road 12 bridge in 1998. This time the water went over it, taking houses and foundations with it.

Fort Worth and Dallas are about to get hit. Looks like that tornado that’s been popping up and down is going to track north of the Metroplex.

Watching radar now, Austin is getting hammered now. I am 200 miles east we have a levee at the Lewis Creek Dam just barely holding on. I’m afraid this front coming our way from the west may break it. They had a mandatory evacuation yesterday. here’s the local story, I hope it holds because 100s of families will be wiped out.

Prayers for y’all to stay safe and dry.

So far, we’re riding it out. I’ve never seen this much rain for so long.

That image is using an effect called tilt shift, which makes distant objects look like toys.

Much needed rain....all at once!

Ain't that the truth! We're not getting hammered too bad out on the eastern edge of Dallas County, but there was so much rain on Saturday that it made me depressed.

At least our local lakes are finally full again.

After praying for rain for years, I just wish it would stop for a bit!

Probably not a levee. They’re more in the rural areas.

North Austin is completely safe. Not near a river, it’ll all run off. We actually don’t have levees here, just concrete and steel dams.

Along the Minnesota River bluffs they have signs showing the water level from a couple of floods. It has been years since I have driven that, but as a teen I was amazed at how high the water was. It seemed like it was 50 feet above the river as you drive down to the water. And even more amazing - it was bluff on our side, but look across the river and it was flat for a mile or more and then just gradually sloping up WAY far away. I suppose my perceptive is off - but it sure seemed much bigger than I could possibly imagine.

Thank you for the alert.

I had sort of already noticed.
Heavy rain here (Sherman/Dennison area) and tornado sirens have been going off.
