Boehner/McConnell Op-Ed: "Now We Can Get Congress Going" [Nov 2014]
Speaker Boehner's Press Office [Wall Street Journal] ^ | November 5, 2014 | By John Boehner and Mitch McConnell

Posted on 05/27/2015 4:48:48 PM PDT by Oldeconomybuyer

Americans have entrusted Republicans with control of both the House and Senate. We are humbled by this opportunity to help struggling middle-class Americans.

Looking ahead to the next Congress, we will honor the voters’ trust by focusing, first, on jobs and the economy. Among other things, that means a renewed effort to debate and vote on the many bills that passed the Republican-led House in recent years. It also means renewing our commitment to repeal ObamaCare, which is hurting the job market along with Americans’ health care.

Our priorities in the 114th Congress will be your priorities. That means addressing head-on many of the most pressing challenges facing the country, including:

• The insanely complex tax code that is driving American jobs overseas;

• Health costs that continue to rise under a hopelessly flawed law that Americans have never supported;

• A savage global terrorist threat that seeks to wage war on every American;

• An education system that denies choice to parents and denies a good education to too many children;

• Excessive regulations and frivolous lawsuits that are driving up costs for families and preventing the economy from growing;

• An antiquated government bureaucracy ill-equipped to serve a citizenry facing 21st-century challenges, from disease control to caring for veterans;

• A national debt that has Americans stealing from their children and grandchildren, robbing them of benefits that they will never see and leaving them with burdens that will be nearly impossible to repay.

If only they really meant it. But I don’t believe a word they say. How many years have they been promising to repeal obamacare? This must be getting their talking points out early. “Vote for our rino selection for president and we’ll repeal obamacare. We really mean it this time.”

So did the Freepers that demanded we elect them because feet would be held to the fire.

Be sure to thank a liar when they post about how very MAD they are that they got what they voted FOR.

how dare you talk about our fearless leaders like that. Don’t you know that any Republican is better than no Republican, and tp think I stayed up late watching the stupid returns come in during the congressional elections like it would matter

“It also means renewing our commitment to repeal ObamaCare”

Renewing what? You mean to tell me there was an actual
expiration date on it? And what is going to be the expiration date this time?
The same as last time? The day after the elections?

“commitment to repeal” when right the opposite is true.
They are Obama.

So did the Freepers that demanded we elect them because feet would be held to the fire.

Chuckle. I have always wondered when I am told that, just what fire & how is it we are going hold their feet to it?

As I have always responded, there is no fire & you have no way to hold their feet to this imaginary fire anyway.

Clue: McConnell had the where with all to stop the passage of ObamaCare. He did not because the GOP wanted a wedge issue for 2010 & 2012. They wanted to look like they were fighting it, while hoping/expecting it would still pass.

Same holds true for the other BS wedge issues the GOP parades as red meat for the hoi polli every election.

I'm outta here GOP. FU very much for my reward for 45 yeas of lock step GOP voting. Those days are gone forever. 2016 is going to come as a real surprise to the GOPe. Assuming they even care, which of that I am not convinced.

"But I don’t believe a word they say. How many years have they been promising to repeal obamacare?"

Boehner and McConnell lied about repealing unconstitutional Obamacare to win votes from low-information patriots because of the following situation. As a consequence of the ill-conceived 17th Amendment, even after three election cycles low-information voters have failed to elect the 2/3 conservative majority in each House of Congress necessary to override a presidential veto to repeal Obamacare.

Basically same problem with Congress trying to defund Obamacare.

Also, the Senate cannot remove a House-impeached Obama from office because the Senate doesn’t have the constitutionally required 2/3 majority votes to do so.

Note that if state lawmaker’s hadn’t ratified the ill-conceived 17th Amendment, foolishly giving up the voices of state lawmakers in Congress by doing so, effectively repealing the whole Constitution as a consequence, then the Senate would probably have killed most bills that established unconstitutional taxing an spending programs like Obamacare.

The 17th amendment needs to disappear, and a bunch of corrupt senators along with it.

They don’t. Why would a liberal care? They ran the numbers and discovered that enough republican voters will side with/vote for them “no matter what” to make it all but impossible for a conservative to strip them/the DNC of their chosen candidate.

The problem, as always is conservatives in name only who drop ‘conservative’ from their vocabulary on election day to vote for a liberal with a magical R on their names.

Which is funny since they make fun of My Little Pony fans yet vote for unicorns.

“low-information patriots “

No such animal. Anyone feeling any patriotism at all would be an informed voter. What you refer to is the species “Moronus Americanus” that says one thing online and does another in the voting booth.

Arrest them and try them for treason.

Vote them out and let them fend in the real world. That would be a worse punishment.

Considering that FR, the supposedly furthest right of all websites had a significant number DEMANDING we elect them every 2 years on the dot, what do you suppose the odds of regular voters ejecting the traitors is?
