“The work to make the escape route was done from the outside. This was a break-IN, not a break-out.”

The article says it absolutely could not have been done from the outside. The manhole cover, the exit point where any outside tunnelers would have had to start, was opened from the inside.

The article is wrong.

One block below where the manhole cover is located is the prison power plant. Look at the map of Dannemora. There are tunnels that run between the power plant and the prison. Underground in the prison is like a rabbit warren with steam, sewer pipes and wiring.

All the noisy drilling and cutting was done outside the prisoners’ cells before that night.

“The article is wrong.”

What exactly is the article wrong about?

“One block below where the manhole cover is located is the prison power plant. Look at the map of Dannemora. There are tunnels that run between the power plant and the prison. Underground in the prison is like a rabbit warren with steam, sewer pipes and wiring.”

So? They’ve only found one egress point, as far as I know, and that was opened from the inside.

“All the noisy drilling and cutting was done outside the prisoners’ cells before that night.”

Yes, just as it was in the famous Alcatraz escape, but that was still done by the prisoners, from the inside. Just because there was a lot of work involved in the escape doesn’t mean prisoners couldn’t accomplish it themselves.

I should have added - yes, the manhole was opened from the inside. They probably could have gone to other manholes too. But they chose the one where the car was waiting.

But you don’t understand... It’s a quota system. Affirmative action. They had to be hired solely because of the race, sex or national origin.

I’ve found that poking and prodding for information, followed by some gentle squeezing for information, can go a long way...

Huh huh huh huh

This is the most plausible explanation I've heard, considering the noise that would have had to have been made with the saw, the time it took to do it, the opportunity to do it, the cleaness of the cuts, and the fact that HOW could someone smuggle in a saw that size that was capable of cutting through that pipe?

Forensics should be able to discern whether the pipe was cut from inside or outside.

The only way the escapee prisoners could have done it would be if they were trustees working down in the power plant or in the tunnels. I highly doubt these guys were trustees. One was a lifer and the other was close to it.

The escapee who is supposed to be the 'lady killer' made sure to flirt with the female employee. That way the finger of suspicion would point toward her, giving them more time to cover their tracks.
A woman didn't engineer this break-in.

You might want to rethink that.

"A female prison worker being questioned by police, who are hunting two escapees from an upstate New York prison, thought she had a romantic relationship with one of them and had planned to drive the getaway car"
