Maybe one more crushing defeat by a RINO PResidential candidate in ‘16 will kill off the Republican Party ONCE AND FOR ALL. I will neither help nor hurt the Ridiculous Party, I just will watch it all unfold.

What a weird thread. There's a bad bill giving more power to the President to get worked up over. In doing so, we'll ignore the cultural rot and the fact that we print money for politicians to spend. I have yet to find a politician against the latter, maybe Rand Paul. But to start shrinking DC and upholding the Constitution someone has to do that. I can see how TPA might enhance the power of unelected bureaucrats in the executive branch.

As a result we need to hear more from Cruz on how he will cut the federal government substantively (authority and entitlements) and from the other candidates on that cutting federal power and controlling immigration. IMO, everything else is just nitpicking. The size and scope of the federal government is the root of most problems in America.

Ted Cruz has always been my favorite. I was donating to him. I was talking him up. When the H1B thing came up, I began defending his actions, saying they were poison pills. Then he doubled down on this immigration nonsense.

We need to write him about both ObamaTrade and H1B. He’s wrong. He needs to correct his ship. Otherwise, he’s done. He’s already stalled. If you look back at the point that started, you’d discover it happened right when he doubled down on H1B. If he doesn’t correct course, then stick a fork in him.

Here’s the ruse that’s been cooked up to make “us” conservatives stop bothering them about giving Obama fast track authority with free immigration language in the same bill.

1. They will not fix the language in the original bill.
2. They “promise” they’ll fix it in a future bill they’re working on now that covers a different subject.
3. Kick the can down the road....can anyone say ‘fiscal cliff’. (We’ll fix it at the budget cap. Nope, we’ll fix it at the debt ceiling. Nope, we’ll fix it at the budget cap....the never-ending lie that has worked so well with them)
4. This article shows that Cruz is part of this deception.

there are fellow FReepers whom excoriate others when it is said - Vote for Cruz and America Loses. Cruz is no different than Obama, just because he is from Texas it is an automatic assumption he is conservative. I call it Bullcrap. he has shown his true colors. If he truly read the bill, he would have voted no!

Free people don’t lay down for tyrants.

That's a quotable quote I might have to plagiarize.

Even without the formality of Article V, the sovereign people have a God given right to frame their government. I hope it will be done peacefully, yet I'm not convinced the possibility doesn't diminishes every day Obama is in office.

He has promised to ensure that his legacy will not be reversed. An ironfisted response to a "national emergency" would suit the purpose.

Politics is just can-kicking and we can't realistically expect Cruz, a politician, to refrain from kicking cans. If he did not kick cans then he would lose, by 60+ votes, on everything he tried to stop. While I agree wholeheartedly with Cruz filabustering to defund Obamacare and Paul filabustering the Patriot Act, there are only so many times that can be done before the rest of the spineless spuds start to override them with 60 votes.

As for the TPA vote itself, it is the lesser of evils vote. There is no doubt that free trade helps our economy. There is also no doubt that Obama wants too much power. Thus you have protectionists like Schumer, Sanders, Warren and a few anti-statists like Paul voting against. Cruz and a lot of "moderates" voted for. I would not place a yea vote in the extreme category. It is not. But it is disappointingly "moderate".

I’m not among those who think the free trade agreements of my lifetime have been good for our country. I think they’ve been used to deconstruct our economy.

I think the problem is China, not free trade. They steal and they dump. But using China to build iPhones seems like a success. Chinese can’t steal it, but some 90% of “iPhones” sold in China are cheezy look-a-likes.

Agreed. Jeff Sessions read the bill and voted no. As far as I am concerned, Sessions is the gold standard when it comes to articulating the conservative position on an issue.

This is going to cripple Cruz. The word is starting to get out about how bad Obamatrade really is. I heard Jeff Sessions on Mark Levin last night and its actually frightening.

TPP is something of an economic vampire from our point of view, so it all makes sense.

Obviously you approve of tyranny from the correct party. An outright sellout of the country with a Republican at the helm just feels better doesnt it?

Excellent analysis. And ultimately what you describe is the result of that curse on our society - the career politician, as well as the lack of term limits that has allowed him, as a class, to thrive and gain such a degree of power.
