Was Marx right or wrong about free trade eliminating capitalism?

That's not germane to my point.

Marx advocated for free trade to destroy the middle class and nations' sovereignty. It was a means to an end for him to achieve his objectives.

So, it doesn't matter that he was "wrong." (Actually, more countries are adopting socialist, statist policies than capitalism). What matters is this revolution.

I was shopping at Wall Mart this afternoon.

For everything I bought (that was made in China)a portion of the money went to the Chinese Military and your wallet.

Who’s side our you on?

Oh well, my point is we are importing a lower standard of living. Mase simply wants to ignore that point, authoritatively declare I’m wrong and change the subject. There’s no point in further discussion with him or her.

Hey Toddster. I suppose I could say it’s been a long time since I’ve heard or read someone say that, in general, the standard of living is going up for middle class people in America. Objectively, I could probably look at charts comparing the average hourly wage or median income to the CPI over the past few decades.

Hey, a little more specificity than your original claim.

The fact is we have a declining standard of living

I'll ask again, based on what?

Objectively, I could probably look at charts comparing the average hourly wage or median income to the CPI over the past few decades.

Great, lay out your data.

Too bad for you I’m not on the witness stand.

If you want to lay out some evidence to the contrary, fine. Otherwise, I’m done with you on this thread.

But just the opposite happened, so why even offer up the quote in the first place? Marx was wrong and his objectives were never attainable.

A wise man once said When goods don't cross borders, soldiers will I would think conservatives would prefer to quote Bastiat over Marx.

BS. It's unfortunate that you can't say what you mean and mean what you say. You stated way back in the thread, that free trade is what the ruling class uses to hold the middle class down. For some unknown reason, you are unable or unwilling to provide any evidence to back up your nonsense. Who knew big government conservatives were also class warriors.

This is economic illiteracy masquerading as moral superiority. When you fill your tank with gas, you're funding Islamic terrorists. Whose side are you on?

Thanks to fracking technology, more of our dollars are staying home instead of going to crazy countries.

Its the one positive thing in this crappy economy.

Imagine if we produced more of our stuff at home instead of sending all that money overseas.

Thanks for illustrating my economic points.

Maybe the Chinese Navy will name one of their new AC carriers in honor of you. “The American Free Traders”.

“Do you think that free trade creates more American jobs than it destroys. Yes or no.”

“Does it create higher paying American jobs than the ones it destroys. Yes or No.”

You forgot to answer my questions, so I posted them again for you!

If the answer to one or both is yes, then you could possibly be right.

However, I think you will ignore my questions.

Allowing corporations to off shore production, to communist counties no less, and letting the goods come back in duty free is radical beyond belief.

.........

NO NO, they are just Communist on the outside, on the inside they are capitalist......really you are so damn right. COMMUNIST CHINA, COMMUNIST VIETNAM, MUSLUM INDONESIA....all good buddies of ours.

NAFTA ONE took our factories. THIS NAFTA TWO will just transfer our ..... children’s futures overseas...

if NAFTA 1 WAS BAD ....THIS with odumbi at the helm.... IS NAFTA ON STEROIDS.

That’s less than the whole truth about Marx and free trade. Ask Central VA. He now knows the truth about Marxist views.

In theory maybe, but in practice “free trade” is the Ruling Class’s best weapon against the middle class.

You placed free trade in quotes. What do you mean by "free trade"?

I support free trade as a concept. What I don’t support in this case is the secrecy and the delegation of congressional powers to the executive.

God chose to put most of the worlds oil underneath some of the most reprehensible people on the planet. God didn't tell the USA to commit economic suicide with these secret "Free Trade" agreements. People like you did that. Playing economic God with American lives and security

“Does it create higher paying American jobs than the ones it destroys. Yes or No.”

Are you really incapable of answering those questions without my help? The global economy has embraced free trade since the end of WWII. That being a fact, do we have more people employed today than we did 70 years ago? Are they earning more in real income than they did 70 years ago? What is our household net worth today vs. 70 years ago?

All you need to do is look around you. Can you? Will you? If your ignorance is intentional, then nothing I say will change your mind.

Thanks to fracking technology, more of our dollars are staying home instead of going to crazy countries.

Bottom line, you're still sending lots of money to states who sponsor terrorism. You can try and play it down, but you are still a hypocrite.

Imagine if we produced more of our stuff at home instead of sending all that money overseas.

Imagine a government powerful enough to force companies to produce everything we need here. Then our problems would be solved. Why is it your solution always involves a bigger and more influential government? Tell us again how you want to reduce the size of government. That was funny.

Thanks for illustrating my economic points.

You began this thread by asserting that free trade is a loser at the ballot box. Yet, for 70 years now, we continue to consistently sign FTA's lowering the barriers to trade, reducing tariffs, and delivering lower prices to a population in desperate to get more bang for their buck. Yeah, that's a recipe for losing at the ballot box.

Your economic points are pointless
