“The Greek people had sacrificed a lot over the last five years and battled high unemployment, he said, in order to “remain in the euro and at some point be able to access the markets and then get on a path of growth.”
If you cut pensions and government workers salaries just what happens to their GDP? Their economy will shrink even further. Only solution is to leave the EU and inflate their way out.

I have a Greek customer...he tells me the biggest problem in Greek is nobody pays consumer taxes...and want to retire in their late 50's...
Gas up your car and the clerk sticks you money in a cigar box...no trail for paying taxes...

It is afraid of the contagion spreading to the other “peripheral” countries. So the game continues....

Greece is a café society. What does it produce?

The current PM promised more socialism and communism and wonders why business hesitates to do business in Greece. In related news, they are also experiencing a serious brain drain as the best and brightest (once again) leave.

If Greece doesn’t self identify as a member of the EU do they have to pay the debt back?

none of the eu members self identify as “eu” first. It is not the USA or rather the USofE.
They are a conglomeration of existing nations rather a unity of a idea.
