Jim Jordan Puts GOP Leadership on Notice
National Review ^ | June 17, 2015 | JOEL GEHRKE

When a group of House conservatives voted last week to kill a trade bill favored by President Obama, House Speaker John Boehner and other GOP leaders who support the measure steamed. Representative Mick Mulvaney (R., S.C.) celebrated the revolt as a coming-of-age moment for rebel backbenchers.

“Yesterday will be the day that we look back at as the day that conservatives finally started getting organized in the House,” he wrote in a note to the Spartanburg Tea Party.

[snip] When GOP leadership ignored them, Jordan and his allies tried to kill the bill on a procedural vote — a rare step made more surprising by the lawmakers’ general support for free trade. It was the boldest attempt yet from the recently formed House Freedom Caucus, which Jordan chairs, to counteract Boehner’s perceived tendency to wilt in the face of Democratic pressure.

"Perceived tendency". Oh the fairness of the National Review.

It says he would’ve brought in 25 yea votes if 3 conditions were met. That’s not strong enough resistance.

The voting BASE is still conserv. We all should unite with Jordan’s fight to suppress JB and his McCarthy-whoever leadership along with Mitch in the Senate. Unite on one conserv candidate so no mod can once more sneak in to POTUS. Then make sure that we unite to demand that any cave ins to Obama stop and do business....AFTER THE 2016 election. Why the rush? To give this Prez more power? Stupidity. We all should just say No to Boehner and Mitch and see how 2016 goes.

with the difference that Arnold was once a patriot. I’ve read he was brave too but disgruntled about a position he didn’t get. What a horrible reason to turn on your own country. Foolish stupid man.
if I’m wrong on my facts I apologize in advance.

My Representative Steve Pearce was one of the three Republicans removed from the WHIP leadership team. I am very proud of him.

I just wish removing Boehner had succeeded earlier this year. What a low life little coward he has proven to be. A traitor on all counts.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3300820/posts

Steve was one of the three Republicans removed from the WHIP leadership team for his vote against a rule governing debate on Obama’s trade bill. In effect they sided with the Democrats in voting down the bill. Steve has issued a press release explaining his vote.

“The TPA vote today missed significant principles that need to be included in any such bill, like competitive currency standards, fair trading practices, and including the opinion of the American people. ...

“Complicating matters, for the next 19 months, the Obama Administration would be at the helm of any trade negotiations. For the past 6 years, this Administration has acted with near reckless disregard for the rule of law and the Constitution. Unfortunately, this is not limited to economic impacts...

“The American people must have faith that Congress will act on their behalf. As written, the fast-track bill does not guarantee that. Ultimately, that is why I could not support this legislation,” Pearce added.

Thank you for posting this important piece. So far the media has kept this part of the story pretty quiet. I had heard nothing and missed this story on FR, if anyone ever bothered to put it up.

Thanks.

No. It’s politics. You pick your battles. There wasn’t a viable alternative and you don’t wound your own side. Think long game.
