Best article of the year. Starts off like just a quick bit of humor but then, wow!

Good article and good responses.
Keep it up, y’all!
How about a simpler refrain:
To government and other people: “Leave me alone and do not attempt to take my life, my liberty and my pursuit of happiness.”

The article has too much "chaff" and not enough "wheat".
Where in this article does he tie Conservative, with it's roots, the values given by God, in His Bible ?
He talks all around them, but never touches them.
To understand Conservative, you must understand Judaeo/Christian moral values, or else, you're just drifting
and not understanding WHY Conservatives value INDIVIDUALISM, private property rights,
and the BIBLICAL TEACHINGS OF NOT MORE THAN 20% TAXES, EVEN IN TIMES OF NATIONAL DISASTER OR WAR.
Confusion reins today, and we allowed it to happen, because we did NOT stand up and refute the lies told about conservatives.
It's so bad today, that we may have to start all over again, and rebuild CONSERVATISM from its very roots.
There's much pruning to be done, and we may have to put MANY Communists and Socialists in jail, before we get it done.

Yes, he is the God of everyman—not collectively meaning, but each and every one. No one can be forced to convert like in Islam or face death. Men fearing for their lives say many things not true.
God gives us our rights, no one can take them away or give them to us. They can oppress us, torture us, even kill us, but our God-given rights remain.
When you world view has God command you to “Do unto others as you would have done to you,” and you wish to be true to that commandment—you are a conservative.

Listen to this 28 minute 45 second radio shows,
What is Politics ?.
This is a "part 2" show, but it's very revealing, and a "Wake Up Call" .

That’s a pretty typical Goldberg pattern. Start with some light banter and then proceed to some seriously good points. Two things I really like in this piece are where he talks about how conservatism starts with gratitude (per Yuval Levin) and his observation that the alleged conservative and liberal attitudes toward change are reversed when it comes to the free market. In general I see conservatives as wanting to conserve a societal matrix that fosters positive, healthy change. An analogy would be the rules of music which allow all kinds of improvisation and innovation. Preserving the rules is what preserves the possibility of these latter things. Likewise, preserving property rights and equality before the law is what promotes healthy dynamism in the markets and in other areas.

We should stress more that WE are actually the liberals.

I listened with interest and growing approval to the podcast you cited. Before he was elected
, I was arguing on these threads that Barack Obama had to be morally destroyed or he was destined to win that election. I even cited John McCain's rebuking a minor level Republican for referring to Obama's middle name as an example of an unwillingness to engage and win.
The distinction drawn between the treatment by Rinos of conservatives as opposed to their treatment of Democrats is one which we have commented about on these threads and one which bore repeating.
As long as Karl Rove or people whose livelihood depends on K St. or running the show, it is unlikely that the state of affairs will improve. Eventually there must be a break up between conservatives and Rinos in the Republican Party but the divorce will be painful to both sides unless a charismatic figure like Ronald Reagan emerges.
