Uber, the crowd-sourced vehicle for hire program that is sweeping the nation, has changed its policies and is now banning guns for anyone either using or providing their service.

The policy change, which was implemented last week, was reported by the New Republic Friday. This comes just two months after a lawfully-armed Uber driver in Chicago used his personal handgun to stop a gunman’s attack.

Time for a pro-gun group to launch a counter-service.

The free market will take care of itself.

This comes just two months after a lawfully-armed Uber driver in Chicago used his personal handgun to stop a gunman’s attack.

In other words, two months after a demonstration of why a driver's having a gun is an awesome idea, they ban them. Liberalism is dementia.

They going to loose a lot of business in Chicago, Baltimore and other "areas"

I guess if Uber is valued at $50 Billion...some budding entrepreneur will start up a CCW taxi app.

Oh well, they just lost a ton of potential people who were considering getting aboard as their drivers, maybe even some semi-retired types from FR. Rush had a gent call in doing this and loving it the other day...

Uber is stupid. I would now not work for them, if I were of a mind to do that kind of work, which I am not.

Nearly all cab/taxi drivers carry guns.

They do this for very good reasons. Lots of cab drivers over the years ended up injured, stabbed, beat up and stomped into the ground while trying to make living.

This is probably a quid pro quo maneuver to curry favor or limit liability with the PTB. Uber just lost a California Labor Commission ruling that declared Uber drivers are employees not independent contractors. The ruling opens the door for the IRS to reclassify them federally and makes Uber liable for all sorts of taxes and insurance costs.

What are they going to do? Give a patdown? Just another gun free zone like the Chatleson church. Liberalism is a mental disease.

So much for Uber’s claim that their drivers are independent contractors, not employees.

One more reason not to become an Uber driver.

Uber seems shady to me anyway.

To me, this is Uber putting yet another nail into the employee vs independent contractor coffin. One more ‘rule’ determining the workplace that will eventually find a accomidating judge and Uber suddenly finding itself owing back wages and of course, all that payroll tax.

This is unbelievable to me.

The reaction to one of their drivers, legally armed and stopping an attack, is to ban drivers from having weapons??? This sounds like satire to me. Sad to say this is real.not satire.

Uber the company isn’t anything other than a bunch of techs operating a runtime database. Gotta keep that on perspective.
