Sanders: GOP's climate change denial an 'embarrassment' (photo needed of Bernie on his jumbo jet)
The Hill ^ | 6/20/15 | Mark Hensch

Posted on 06/21/2015 5:35:29 AM PDT by Libloather

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Friday night said Republican skepticism towards climate change science is a national “embarrassment.”

“One of the embarrassments that goes on in this country today is that we have a major political party called the Republican Party that is rejecting what the overwhelming majority of scientists are saying,” Sanders told host Bill Maher on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher.”

“That is, of course, climate change is real and caused by human activity,” said Sanders, a 2016 Democratic presidential candidate. “That’s an issue we’re going to talk about a whole lot.”

Sanders praised Pope Francis for writing an encyclical on that topic released Thursday.

In his formal statement of the church’s views on the subject, Francis argued climate change is real and that greater international efforts are needed for stopping its ill effects.

“This Pope has, dare I say, been a miracle for humanity,” Sanders said.

“He makes me very conservative on economic issues and that he spoke on climate change in as forceful a manner as he did is just extraordinary,” he said. “I think the fact that the Pope has spoken out will have a profound impact all over this world.”

Sanders also argued climate change is one of the key issues that will help him win young voters on the campaign trail.

“We are being very aggressive in reaching out to young people,” Sanders said. “What we want to do is tap, Bill, the idealism of the kids.”

“And what the kids are saying, for example, is that this country should lead the world in transforming the energy system and dealing with climate change,” he added.

The Vermont lawmaker touted his growing success with social media attention from potential supporters.

“I will tell you we have a very active social media effort,” Sanders told Maher.

“In the Senate, we have more people on our Facebook page than any other member of the United States Senate,” he added.

This level of interest stemmed from a growing dissatisfaction with income inequality among Americans overall, Sanders argued.

“The truth is that for 40 years, the middle class of this country has been disappearing,” he said.

“There has been a huge transfer of trillions of dollars in wealth from working families to the top one-tenth of 1 percent,” Sanders said.

“And what the people of this country are saying is, ‘Enough is enough,’ ” he added. “Our country and our government belongs to all of us, not just a few billionaires.”

Sanders formally launched his presidential campaign May 26 in Burlington, Vt.

He has made tighter regulations of wealthy special interests and fighting climate change key parts of his campaign platform.

A Google image search came up with not ONE pic of Bernie and an airplane. Does he walk from event to event? That is one in-shape socialist.

Sanders is an embarrassment to Vermont and the nation at large.

All part of the Marxist paradigm to destroy capitalism and by doing so, America.

No, Bernie, the neo-Lysenkoism of AGWT is an embarrassment.

Looking at the article’s source, some of the comments are just absolutely brutal. How about also ones like Algore or Leo DiCrapio and other champagne socialists who fly around in their own private jets where ever or when ever they please. When it comes to utter hypocrisy but still lecturing to the sheeple about their wanting to soak the rich for their climate religion, these people make ones like Jim and Tammy Bakker or Jimmy Swaggart look like amateurs in that department.

The reason that the ‘overwhelming m=number of scientists’ buy into the global warming hoax is because the majority of real scientists who have no political agenda have been silenced, one way or another.

Either by getting fired, demoted or simply ignored by the press.

Sorry Mr. Sanders, wrong again.

The existence of a Sen. Bernie Sanders (Communist-Vt.)
in the United States is a national “embarrassment.”
His constituency has to be the most ignorant demographic
in the country. You think we could trade Canada
Vermont for the Yukon Territory? Na, in a year Canada would
be complaining about getting ripped off.

Leo also had the problem of using unrecycled paper, which is according to the greenies, a problem, since refining paper from wood pulp releases more CO2 than recycling the paper.

Don't have to look for an airplane photo to show his hypocrisy. If you believe the global warming crap as Bernie does and that it is caused by greenhouse gases, one of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gases is the textile industry.

Many processes and products that go into the making of fibers, textiles and apparel products consume significant quantities of fossil fuel. Apparel and textiles account for approximately 10 percent of the total carbon impact. The estimated consumption for an annual global production of 60 billion kilograms of fabrics is: 1 trillion kilowatt hours of electricity and up to 9 trillion liters of water.

Yet Bernie is a huge supporter of the textile industry ( seeing that is a major industry in his state ). So Bernie, put your money where your mouth is and call for the closing of your states textile plants in order to "save the earth".

Oh, c'mon. Bernie Sanders is an original. He says it like he sees it. Can you imagine how much FUN a Sanders vs Trump debate schedule would be?

The nation's goin' down anyway. Maybe the outliers can come up with some solutions. The political class will just find faster ways to bury us.

Mostly he is an honest marxist. But this GoreBull warming crap is a stealth plan by the commies to destroy capitalism and making the peasants get by without the niceties of life. And by using this stealth crap, Bernie does not just “say it like it is”.

Deindustrialize developed nations and redistribute wealth/assets to get better weather in 80 years. All based on “climate models” produced by “scientists” whose grants depend on the politically correct outcome.

No thanks. Marxism never works.

Climate change is “caused” by human activities? Humans have been around how long? How old is the earth? How long has the climate been changing? Hmmm. Maybe Bernie is vying to take over from uncle Joe as the leader in town-fool statements.

Keep in mind that Bernie Sanders is a product of VT. They're sincere about their environmentalism in that very independent state. Again, a vigorous debate about global warming and environmental issues could bring the issues into focus.

Why is everyone so afraid of outliers discussing the ideas that nobody else can solve?

Vermont is now peopled by Brooklyn, NY, progressives (some I knew back in the 60’s) who migrated there for the purpose of stealing an underpopulated state. It is now Ben and Jerry land

Or ask people not to throw away and get more use out of textile products, recycle if possible.

VT is now Ben-and-Jerry land

And Ben and Jerry sold out to UniLever. That's true that VT has attracted a lot of trendy idealists. That doesn't stop Vermonters from being sincere about the environment.

I think there are also non-climate scientists who assume climate scientists are ethical like themselves and that temperature data hasn’t been manipulated. There’s coming to the wrong conclusions based on bad data.

We have an intern at work, good cleancut young guy. After tawkin to the guy for a few weeks, we ended up in a political discussion. He’z 21.

The fella asked who I supported. Told him Ted Cruz. Got this.....oh man! reaction out of him.

I asked...well, who do you support? “Bernie Sanders”, he said. I told him, do you not know that Bernie Sanders is a Socialist? Yep he replied. So you’re a socialist? Well, yea.

Well then....here we go. Just like the ol Servantboy I know and love...lol, I began digging a lil deeper into Sander’s affiliations.

Good grief! Hillary’s bad...and she ascribes to the socialist agenda, but Ol Bernie is a So-ho-ho-cialist.

Go out to the Democratic Socialist of America website sometime y’all. Long read, but worth educating oneself.

They are re-newing their message to appeal to the young college aged kiddos. Very attractive for young, impressionable, liberal minds. Cleverly disguised content.

Anything pretty much goes. Take from the rich...give the poor. Homosexual sex...yep. Transgender...yep. Income redistrubution...yep. Centralized Gubbamint power...yep. Destruction of our military might...yep.

Check it out, these are our advesaries.
