Thank God something is. The Syrian opposition (ISIS) needs to be stopped. Christians in Syria were just fine until this Islamic fundamentalist bunch started a civil war.

Assad is fighting ISIS. Assad is being supported by Iran. If Assad falls, ISIS takes over Syria.

The US is trying to topple Assad. Meanwhile it is fighting ISIS (sort of) in Iraq in co-operation with Iran. It is trying to support an Iraqi regime that has been co-opted by Iran.

The Kurds have become an effective fighting force against ISIS and Assad, but they get no aid from the US whatsoever.

Have I got this right? How is all this working out?

The Kurds have a big brother NATO member state which has provided them with an air force and troop training. They are fierce fighters.

And the rest of it?

Well, Syria in the main is not certain. My original thoutght was that once the Tigris Euphrates valley was secured and a path to the sea, Isis would cease operations.

They are now operating further south however. That remains to be seen. I thought there will be a Syrian remnant controlled by Assad rebels
