I remember an old Crossfire episode with Pat Buchanan as the “right” host, Beckel as the “left” host, and Ed Meese (former Reagan AG) as the “right” guest (forgot who the “left” guest was, some nobody). As it turned out, Beckel and Meese are good friends, Beckel said as much and said “I like [Meese] a lot.” The show became a love fest, with Buchanan, Beckel and Meese laughing and joking with each other, and the lefty guest was out in the cold.

He took tremendous advantage of our generosity, empathy and goodwill and we simply came to the end of the road with him.

Fox is doing a little pruning of the bushes. Necessary maintenance. Yesterday they let go of Sarah, today, Bob Beckel. I enjoyed each while they were at Fox. Sarah has sort of moved on from that sort of role anyway, and good for her. You can’t stay in combat mode forever, let her and the husband enjoy this new lifestyle they have earned.

Beckel was almost ... almost tolerable compared to the likes of the crypt master Colmes and Wacky Juan “I love the one” Williams.
