Bristol Palin is pregnant and this is news.
The 24-year-old daughter of former vice presidential candidate and “SNL” punching bag Sarah Palin has spent the last seven years since her mom’s failed bid for the White House making abstinence (and holiness in general) her personal and very profitable cause celeb.
In 2008, 17-year-old Palin’s unplanned teen pregnancy threatened to derail her mom’s White House hopes. But her potentially embarrassing narrative quickly turned to one of resilience and the reality shows followed. Palin appeared on season 11 of “Dancing with the Stars” and in her own Lifetime docu-series, “Bristol Palin: Life’s a Tripp.”
In 2009, Palin earned $262,500 as The Candie Foundation’s teen pregnancy ambassador but that same year told Fox’s Greta Van Susteren, “everyone should be abstinent or whatever but it’s not realistic at all.”

True. You have to make honest efforts to avoid situations which lead down that road. Be careful around men. Be careful about spending time in bedrooms or other places of temptation.

Bristol wanted tongues to be waggin about this. She didn’t have to serve up the news along with a juicy sound bite “I know I’m a disappointment to my family, but I don’t want to be lectured about it!” She quickly added. Bristol is a smart girl, and has learned how the entertainment business in run. She could probably work as a program producer if given the chance.
She probably plans to use this attention getting event to boost her visibility for a while. Go for it Bristol. Be yourself. I still think she will give this child a loving home. Meanwhile, notice who we never hear anything about?
Younger sister Willow Palin. Willow resembles Sarah more than any of the girls. I think it’s a case of two personalities. Willow prefers a more private life.
The likelihood is great that she knew she was pregnant before she broke her engagement. But she broke it anyway. She could have had an abortion to “hide” the truth, but she’s courageous enough to deal with the fall out that this announcement generates (even among freepers). My hat is off to her. She’s tough as nails.
I agree. She knows she screwed up and she’s facing it.
She’s 24 years old now. At this point, this was her own decision, and her responsibility.

The main thrust has been that she’s pregnant again. Only 2 or 3 have mentioned her having worked as a teen spokesperson.
They already culturally have. I made it clear that I wasn’t going to engage in premarital sex throughout high school. Plenty of peers thought I was a weirdo at the time (1998-2002) for that notion. Plenty of others figured I would just give up on it. But after years, people generally didn’t care about my decision in that arena. Nowadays though, the media pretty much push the idea that it’s impossible to not have sex and that the act isn’t a choice. I disagree with the opinion of Bristol which echoes this.
