The difference between secession and expulsion is that expulsion can be done without any real risk of civil war. Expulsion is an inherently lawful option, and that gives us a lot of leverage over the thugs, even if we would rather stop them before expulsion becomes the only remaining option short of war. It's nice to have a strong option that doesn't require shooting.

However appealing it might be, I guess I don’t know your reputation either. Are you implying that, since secession is not covered in the much desecrated US Constitution, we can’t do it?
