NASCAR chairman France wants to eliminate Confederate flag at races
The Japan Times ^ | JUN 28, 2015

SONOMA, CALIFORNIA – Calling the Confederate flag an “insensitive symbol” he personally finds offensive, NASCAR chairman Brian France said the series will be aggressive in disassociating the symbol from its events.

“We want to go as far as we can to eliminate the presence of that flag,” France told AP on Saturday. “I personally find it an offensive symbol, so there is no daylight how we feel about it, and our sensitivity to others who feel the same way.

“Obviously, we have our roots in the South, there are events in the South, it’s part of our history like it is for the country. But it needs to be just that, part of our history. It isn’t part of our future.

“We want everybody in this country to be a NASCAR fan, and you can’t do that by being insensitive in any one area.”

The flag issue was heightened last week after nine black churchgoers were slain in Charleston, South Carolina. The suspect in the case, Dylann Roof, embraced Confederate symbols before the attack, posing with the rebel battle flag. That revelation prompted a reappraisal of the role such symbols play in the South.

France admitted the Charleston church shooting has pushed the series to find a way to take a tougher stance. Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon, two of NASCAR’s biggest stars, on Friday supported NASCAR’s efforts.

This week, NASCAR said it backed South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley’s call to remove the Confederate flag from state capitol grounds, and noted it bars the flag symbol in any official NASCAR capacity.

Noticed the crowds at a NASCAR race lately? Neither have I. A lot of empty seats. Get rid of the fans and the problem is solved.

I watched a NASCAR race on TV years ago, and just didn’t get it. This makes it even more irrelevant; if they think they’ll draw any black or lib fans, they’re delusional.

Are you a sheep or are you an American. Will you let a few haters dictate what you do and when you can do it?
Every single person that walks through the gate at the next race should be holding a Confederate Flag or wearing something with it on it. Please don’t be sheep. Step up before it is too late....

Bingo! Nascar fans in the south are Rebels first, being race fans is somewhere down the list. Nascar sucks as bad as the new country music.

Ban beer and fried chicken and they can just go ahead and turn the lights off now.

Other than the Government, why give your hard earned money to someone that despises you? The Flag is an abstract object. The people and ideas it represents are the concrete objects. When they say that they do not like the Flag, what they are mean is that they do not like the people or the ideas. When they say, the Flag is history and belongs in a museum. What they mean is the fliers of the Flag belong in the grave yard [done away with]. Instead of attending his race[s]and giving him my money to be used against me, I just would not attend.

My opinion, NASCar represents an alliance with left wing. The organization has worked hard to alienate itself from the core base. It’s like the organization is willfully self-desfructing for a “higher cause”. I don’t understand this, but I will not support them financially through teams, sponsorships, driving schools, merchandise, attendance, viewership.

He needs to remember what happened to the Dixie Chicks. NASCAR and all other sports should stay away from politics. No matter what your stance, you alienate half your fan base. “Shut up and race, Bill!”

Wonderful idea, attack your base. Maybe the GOPe should try that. Oh wait, they are already doing that.

if you ban the confederate flag, you might as well just ban boobs, beef, and alcohol

Oh, don't worry. They're next.

Orwell was quite right to make the Anti-Sex League part of 1984. He didn't anticipate that "free" sex would be used as such an effective tool to overthrow the established order, but nobody's perfect. You already see, in "rape culture", the next turn in the Left's effective use of sex as a weapon. Boobs will be forbidden.

And beef and booze? They cost Obamacare billions. Out, definitely out.

But the Federal version of NASCAR will survive - Peoples Safe Vehicles Racing Organization - and, when you are required to attend PSVRO events, be happy that the Chevy Volts zooming by at the legally-permitted 30 mph are not polluting the air.

Rejoice, Citizen! You are finally free!

All NASCAR fans should boycott the next few big races.

It would be good if Arca or one of the associations that has been choked out by nascar took the opportunity to pick up the lowly southerners disowned by the FAT cats.Probably have to be based in the south and have a great legal team.

This year is the first year I don’t care about NASCAR. I only watched Daytona, but they are trying to be PC...I guess my RV which has the battle flag on it would be unwelcome now... oh well... no loss...

The last time Brian France ran his mouth about the Battle Flag,(2-3 yrs. ago) the Talladega race was 2-3 weeks later. There were more Confederate Flags (of all types) in the infield than ever before. Expect the same result next weekend at Daytona.

I like the connection you always make between sex and the societal decline. (and what the homosexual movement is really about)

Remember, though, in Brave New World sex was reduced to an ordinary daily function. Like brushing your teeth or taking a walk. A very benign sort of function. They took the soma and had sex. I think we are closely to that point.

Most people are obsessed with sex and I doubt they even know why, other than they feel they are supposed to be obsessed with it because the cultural Marxist driven popular media tells them it's normal. I'd wager to bet, huge swaths of the women in particular, don't even really enjoy it (free, open, promiscuous sex with multiple partners). Men probably not the case but women are still wired the same regardless of how they'd like to pretend that isn't so.
