Los Angeles city council members are debating controversial new gun law changes aimed at locking up handguns when they're not in use.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the proposal would require city residents to either lock up handguns not being used or apply trigger locks to them. The proposal was authored by Councilman Paul Krekorian and is meant to protect children from gun accidents.

They reportedly wrote a letter to lawmakers arguing that all officers need quick access for self-protection. The letter cited ex-LAPD officer Christopher Dorner's massacre of other officers three years ago.

Union director Pete Repovich reportedly said it was vital for current and retired officers alike to be exempted to “protect themselves...

Scalia joined Thomas.
My hope is that the others in the Heller majority are just waiting for it to be ripe.
It really is a no brainer.

Retired officers are civilians. They have to live like the rest of the peons.

They don’t like it, maybe they can admit we all live in the same dangerous world and would all like to be able to defend ourselves - not just ex cops.

There you go trying to be reasonable again.

The state of California has firearms pre-emption laws. Only the state can make firearms law. Counties and cities can not enact firearms laws. See California's State Preemption Of Local Restrictions

A CCW guy in Ohio was pulled over and failed to alert the Ossifer he had a gun. Case is being handed over to the prosecutor for possible charges.

So they purport that LEOs will go in and lock up the hardware in East LA?
This is a law for white victims and docile Christians.
We are in a de facto civil war at this time.

Tell me more about this "Rule of Law" miracle you allude to.

Laws should apply equally to police and civilians. All gun laws, no exception.

I can’t wait for the LA City Council to prohibit the LAPD from carrying firearms at all.

I know. But i was making the point in the context of the article and the officers’ distinguishing themselves from civilians for the exemption.

I usually advocate one gun law, to wit: the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed

However, you may have something there, and I imagine we could get NAACP, ACLU, and SPLC support if we ran a test program disarming White and Uncle Tom officers first.
