Polygamous Montana trio applies for wedding license

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — A Montana man said Wednesday that he was inspired by last week’s U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing gay marriage to apply for a marriage license so that he can legally wed his second wife.

Nathan Collier and his wives Victoria and Christine applied at the Yellowstone County Courthouse in Billings on Tuesday in an attempt to legitimize their polygamous marriage. Montana, like all 50 states, outlaws bigamy — holding multiple marriage licenses — but Collier said he plans to sue if the application is denied.

“It’s about marriage equality,” Collier told The Associated Press Wednesday. “You can’t have this without polygamy.”

County clerk officials initially denied Collier’s application, then said they would consult with the county attorney’s office before giving him a final answer, Collier said.

Yellowstone County chief civil litigator Kevin Gillen said he is reviewing Montana’s bigamy laws and expected to send a formal response to Collier by next week.

“I think he deserves an answer,” Gillen said, but added his review is finding that “the law simply doesn’t provide for that yet.”

RE: “the law simply doesn’t provide for that yet.”

The key word here is "yet".

Now it has begun. Why not? Love is Love the tolerant liberals say. Love is not just for 1 person. Also since it is not mention in the 10 Commandments like Whoopi said, there should be no problem. /s

Having multiple wives sounds nutty, but not nearly as nutty as connecting an organ with a sterile channel designed to discharge semen and urine with one designed to discharge poop.

Only the left can take a beautiful and sacred rite as marriage and turn it into an absolute POS. Why do we keep thinking we can cooperate and find common ground with those people?

If they divorce him, will each get half, leaving him with nothing?

Now it has begun.

From Game of Thrones:

“And now it begins,” said Ser Arthur Dayne, the Sword of the Morning. He unsheathed Dawn and held it with both hands. The blade was pale as milkglass, alive with light.

“No,” Ned said with sadness in his voice. “Now it ends.”

"Oh no. Now what? Now what? What do we do now?"

We warned America this would happen if the homos got to play "married". Everyone and everything will want to play "married."
Can't wait for people to start marrying their pets.

Hey, this isn't our fault. We tried to stop it. The democrats did this.

Well, this will be interesting.

There’s really no way to legally deny this, given the SC ruling, imo.

I want to hear the logic for whatever is decided.

I suspect that it will be denied, though.

When a Muslim man comes here with his three wives there’s no problem. They all get welfare, housing, medical care, EBT, etc.

So why can’t a citizen enjoy the same rights as a Muslim immigrant?

That is a Silly Argument that is always brought up here.

Consenting Adults, as in Incestuous and Polygamous Marriage.

Animals can Consent to Bestiality the way a Fetus has a Choice in Abortion.

Based on which precedent?

Yeah. Good point. If SCOTUS denies this trio, then the muslims lose. They have to dissolve their marriages.

The muslims won't be very happy about that (pssst- hey muslims - we didn't do this. the democrats did this)

“It’s about marriage equality,”

Yep. Equality, diversity, inclusiveness, tolerance. Who are we to decide who people should love.

That's hard to argue against now. The left and SCOTUS made these rules.
