Polygamous Montana trio applies for wedding license

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — A Montana man said Wednesday that he was inspired by last week’s U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing gay marriage to apply for a marriage license so that he can legally wed his second wife.

Nathan Collier and his wives Victoria and Christine applied at the Yellowstone County Courthouse in Billings on Tuesday in an attempt to legitimize their polygamous marriage. Montana, like all 50 states, outlaws bigamy — holding multiple marriage licenses — but Collier said he plans to sue if the application is denied.

“It’s about marriage equality,” Collier told The Associated Press Wednesday. “You can’t have this without polygamy.”

County clerk officials initially denied Collier’s application, then said they would consult with the county attorney’s office before giving him a final answer, Collier said.

Yellowstone County chief civil litigator Kevin Gillen said he is reviewing Montana’s bigamy laws and expected to send a formal response to Collier by next week.

“I think he deserves an answer,” Gillen said, but added his review is finding that “the law simply doesn’t provide for that yet.”

Marriage used to recognize that only one male and one female can grow a family. Now that an unnatural, sterile homosexual pair can “marry”, why not polygamy? At least they can produce children.

It also has far more historical precedent among major religions (Islam), early Mormonism, the Old Testament, non-western cultures, and throughout the animal kingdom.

The man holding the parrot in a cage looked at the magnificent Great Dane and carefully said,
“So, you’re here to get him neutered?”
And she replied,
“No, he’s here to get his toe-nails clipped.”

I can see some wealthy individuals marrying their children in order to avoid estate taxes. They SC actually devalued “marriage” with their baloney about love and self-esteem into a mere contract.

Oh right. The law is whatever five Justices say. I didn’t realize that this country has turned into an oligarchy.

Polygamy makes more sense than “gay” marriage, but it is still not a union that is conducive to providing a stable home life for children. It’s all so stupid.

No marriage is a partnership. Without a pre-nuptial agreement spelling out the terms of dissolution each would receive an equal % of the communal assets.

In most states, the penalty for bigamy is severe: 2 mothers-in-law.

Never happen - too complex legally. Many institutions anticipate a committed contractual arrangement between two adults. There is the tax structure; next of kin status for medical and burial decisions; life medical and dental insurance; adoption; community property and liability. Three or more just won’t work.

Fran Drescher married her dog?

She was working at a pet shop in Flushing, Queens
When the manager kicked her out in one of those crushing scenes
What’s she to do? Where’s she to go? She’s bereft of her beagle
So down the coast to DC to the Supreme Court’s door
She was there to watch the proceedings, but the justices saw more
They saw rights that weren’t there, from mid-air
That’s how cross-species marriage became legal

Collier said he sent an email asking the ACLU of Montana to represent him in a possible lawsuit. ACLU legal director Jim Taylor said he has not seen the request.

Taylor said he has no opinion on Collier’s claims, though the Supreme Court decision on gay marriage “is about something very different.”

EXCUSE ME???? Please explain that. The is absolutely no difference! Doesn’t LOVE WIN?
