Scott Walker’s Wife: One More Reason For SoCons To Worry?
The Daily Caller ^ | July 6, 2015 | Matt K. Lewis

Behind every great man, there’s an incredibly astonished woman. And if you’re a Republican politician, the odds are pretty good she’s not on board with everything in your agenda. Along those lines, social conservatives have a new reason to worry about Scott Walker: Tonette Walker.

In an interview with the Washington Post, Wisconsin’s first lady publicly distanced herself from her husband over the issue of gay marriage. What is more, it’s clear that Scott Walker’s views are out of step with his entire family on the issue.

Good for Walker. Pitty the rest of the family.

Stand for what is truth and correct in the eyes of God. If others choose to live or believe in immoral error that’s on them. ‘Whose report will you believe’?

Everything written by Matt Lewis should be taken with a boulder of salt.

I don’t know whom I’ll back in primary, but knowing this makes me a lot less enthusiastic about Walker.

Ouch! Social conservatives will want to see a history of support on this issue. Wifey is not a big help, here. Another Laura Bush and Barbara Bush and all girl Bushes doesn’t build much of fan base from the conservative activists.

Tonette Walker is not trying to win the votes of social conservatives in a Republican primary.

Scott Walker is.

Just asking— do you know of Nancy Reagan giving any public interviews undercutting her husband’s conservative message when he was running for office?

“Behind every great man, there’s an incredibly astonished woman.”

LOL, not true I’m sure, but that’s a pretty funny line.

Yes. Generally Nancy has the smarts to remain quiet on issues. She made a few miscues, but overall not that many.

[Sounds like Ronnie and Nancy Reagan]

Nancy’s fascination with fortune tellers opened the door to the occult in the highest levels of government.

I agree.

If she’s a recesive type it might not be too bad, but I can already see she thinks she needs to get her thoughts out there.

I’m not into that.

If she wants her views out there, she should run for something. Her voice in his background is just noise and will be exploited by the media and the Left (same thing).

Amen to that!

You are so right also about the easy exploitation of lady Walker’s musings. I think you are very instinctive on this one— you said, “but I can already see she thinks she needs to get her thoughts out there.” (A good catch by you on that one. Very astute.)

Thank you RitaOK.

If she’s doing interviews this early on, it concerns me.

I’m not sure if these women understand this, but the public is not charmed by their disagreements with their husbands.

The media is abusing them.

A reversal of the gay marriage decision is almost inconceivable in light of Roe’s survival. I can see Scalia, Thomas, and Alito doing right by the Constituion and voting to overrun this outrage, but I don’t think Roberts would. Despite his dissent which correctly ripped the decision for its complete lack of Constitutional merit, I can’t see him voting to take a way a ‘right’, even a phony one like gay marriage.

Still though, it is of vital importance that the GOP nominee be trustworthy on judicial selections. Gay marriage is unlikely to be overturned, but maybe if a Republican can replace Kennedy then we’ll at least get a decision preventing the govt from destroying small businesses who don’t kneel to the new morality.
