They don't have the right to fine you for exerting your Constitutional rights.
Pay the fine and you are saying that they do.
You are conceding the point.
If your neighbor showed up at your house and told you they were issuing you a fine for failing to salute the Sodomy flag would you pay it?
Of course not because they have no right to impose any such fine.
Just because they want to play in a make-believe world is no reason to play there with them.
A state certainly has the right, by virtue of enforcement, to issue fines.
The hypothetical neighbor has no legal enforcement abilities to privately issue fines.
The Sweet Cakes couple should cooperate with the state, and not put themselves in further jeopardy. Their personal well-being takes priority.
Take the fine as an expense and get the Hell out of Oregon.
Someone please direct me to the actual complaint of the 40 something damages included in the lesbians’ complaint. I need it for an on-going discussion about how ridiculous said damages are. Thank you.
