it was all precipitated by that bitchy woman who intentionally escalated the situation by accusing him of touching that other woman. it was one of those “gotcha” moments that the SJW crowd loves.

it’s not a crime to harmlessly touch somebody. i get touched all the time standing in the checkout line. people accidentally brush up against you. i don’t shout “I’VE BEEN ASSAULTED!” at the top of my lungs when this happens. sheesh.

she was looking for a reason to get the security guards to throw him out. even if he was acting like a know-it-all ass, he was legally allowed to be there.

The very first action of the officer was to place hands on the guy calmly talking:

Battery.

The officers and the county owe this guy money, and They should spend some time in jail thinking about their crime.

I also think they all the people in that room an apology and their right carry a weapon and work in a guard capacity should be discontinued.

watch the guy in the White shirt sitting in the chair on the wall with his left hand draped over the chair next to him

Yep, that's one calm dude. The internet already has Epic Beard Man. (If you've never heard of him, google it. It's worth the effort.)

Now we also have Calm White Shirt Man.

Near the end of the video, you’ll see that one of the two attacking deputy sheriffs said, “We had an accidental discharge, too.”

If the guards were a bit smarter, Skidmore might have had a little “accident” after the event concluded. With plausible deniability.

...At no time was that photographer in any physical danger. Yes, he was in danger of losing his camera. But he was not in any physical danger. Yet he started throwing punches, many punches....

I don't think anyone here saw the same video I did. Or at least doesn't understand what they saw.

The guard comes up and starts pulling on the camera, with the camera strap around the photographer's neck. No explanation, no words, no nothing.

Now, if you have ever studied any of the martial arts, even casually, this is a classic strangle hold. If the photographer does not do something very quickly the camera strap is going to cut off all circulation to his brain and he will pass out -- 10 seconds or less. He is completely justified to defend himself against this very serious threat.

I’m glad to know their are so many psychiatrists on FR.

Funny you should mention that. Because I actually am a board-certified psychiatrist. My real name is Dr. Tommy Flanagan, and I'm a board-certified psychiatrist. Yeah...that's the ticket.

:)

That may not be a good thing. I'll bet that the percentage of psychiatrists/psychologists with mental disorders is higher than that of the general public!

As a rule, the initial aggressor has a duty to retreat before he can assert a right of self defense.

Actually it began with the two big guys coming up to him. Next one trys to grab and pull his personal property away from him. The guy resists and makes contact and then guns?
Looks to me like both could have sat on this guy who was just sitting there.

Next bang and the one who shot acts like he has a dimentia moment IMO.

Yep. I don't know if the photographer has any regrets about his actions (he should). But I'm pretty sure that the guard wishes he had never fired his weapon. That obviously could have ended very badly.

Okay, let's have some more fun.

Video Shows Ohio Security Guard Pull Gun on PINAC Correspondent During Struggle to Seize his Camera
PINAC
Be the Media
The video was one recorded from one of four cameras brought into the Richland County Commission meeting on Thursday by citizens, who were planning on voicing their individual concerns to the commission before it announced it was going into closed executive session.

The other three cameras were seized as evidence by Richland County sheriff deputies, who obviously did not realize they forgot to seize a fourth camera.

Skidmore, a former U.S. Marine who spent 30 years as a prison guard before retiring, is currently sitting in jail on a $100,000 bond on a charge of felonious assault on the security guards.

More inconsistencies in the retired deputies' stories behind the link.

So in the long run, who will win--the following or the peasant rabble (AKA the private sector)?

Stock up on popcorn. The default process will continue and conclude. Then, the real fun will begin.

You are absolutely correct! That woman is a county commissioner and she thinks she’s a Queen. She does not like to be questioned.

She WAS looking for an excuse to throw Skidmore out because he asks questions...and his questions and the response, or lack of response, are on film.

What property was the guard defending?

“What property was the guard defending?”

I didn’t say he was defending property. I said he may have feared for his safety.

I agree.

The guard charged in the room like a raging bull. He went right for Skidmore and began assaulting him. No warnings whatsoever.

I wonder why he focused on the camera. Skidmore was recording an OPEN meeting of PUBLIC officials which isn’t a crime...at least not yet.

That settles the debate for me. The security guard should go to jail, multiple felony charges under color of authority.
