The Sheriff reclassified that discharge in a subsequent news article:
“During the struggle, Norris also fired his weapon and struck a wall. Initially, Sheriff Steve Sheldon said officials believed that discharge to be accidental, but in a news release Friday, he corrected that Norris intentionally fired.”
Here’s the link to the article: http://www.mansfieldnewsjournal.com/story/news/local/2015/07/10/bci-search-targeted-skidmores-social-media-posts/29997497/
State property law and self defense is on his side. You think he should roll over. You were explicit in how you would and prefer others to respond. Where do you draw the line? I might draw it different then him but he has a God given right to resist and fight back. No straw man since you were quite clear in your stance in self defense. You won’t fight back until it’s too late. Your stance not my straw man lol
“State property law and self defense is on his side”
Actually not.
If you are attacked and used justified force to repel the attacker and then the original attacker (the guard) retreats and you continue the attack YOU then become the aggressor.
Know the law.
“dimentia moment” That’s it! It fits the guard’s actions perfectly. Firing a gun at an unarmed man in an occupied room isn’t sensible behavior.

He (George Zimmerman) was was under a pummeling attack by a larger man obviously intent on doing bodily harm.
The guard didn’t retreat.
That's actually a good question. IMO, a vigorous physical self-defense should kick in when one reasonably believes that one's life is in danger. Other folks believe that it should kick in when one's property is in danger. I don't necessarily agree with that, but I respect that opinion.
And please note that at no time did I suggest that the photographer should "roll over" and just accept the guard's over-reaction. IMO, this was a lawsuit situation. The photographer had a right to be there. Sue the guard, and maybe press charges against him for assault. Oh, and sue all those arrogant people at the table.
But throw multiple, multiple punches over a camera? Nope, I don't see that as a sane response. Of course, your mileage may vary.
Yes, the guy in the white sweatshirt didn’t even blink when the gun went off. As for Ms. Nazi, I bet she doesn’t sleep well at night anymore. There’s an old Marine saying: Paybacks a bitch. The old fake cop was really rocked with that first left punch, boy was that unexpected. Never get into a fight with an old prison guard.
“The guard didnt retreat.”
He was knocked back all the way to the wall without even throwing a punch. An argument could be made that during this the photographer became the aggressor but I will not make that argument at this time.
Then the photographer stood back. At this time no one is the aggressor.
The photographer then begins an attack. A case can be made that the photographer becomes the aggressor and the guard the defender.
Deadly force can be used by a defender against an attacker using deadly force.
Little correction there.
Way slower than being "accidentally discharged at". What ever happened to setting the conditions for defiant trespass and then having someone removed by someone other than a paramilitary death squad member?
Skidmore behaved like an ass. Best outcome would have been if he had gotten his butt kicked. My 2¢.
So-called civil courts are useful for some people at some times in some places, but too many jurisdictions have shot their wad with corruption. The civil atmosphere of the 1960s and earlier years is gone for many. The old timers warned us about the consequences of corruption long ago.
But people with evil personalities don’t care about consequences of their sins. They’re criminals whether convicted or un-convicted (shrewd, clever, able to pay bribes, accept bribes, hold offices intimidating to some, etc.). They’re addicted to such behaviors.
One should not expect to walk easily in a garden after planting sharp stones, razors, briars and poison ivy there, but very spoiled people don’t stop their bad behavior. It is only eventually stopped against their efforts by any one of many kinds of occurrences (illness, accident, disaster, etc.).
It is in Florida.
Florida Statute:
(2) A person is justified in using or threatening to use deadly force if he or she reasonably believes that using or threatening to use such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony. A person who uses or threatens to use deadly force in accordance with this subsection does not have a duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground if the person using or threatening to use the deadly force is not engaged in a criminal activity and is in a place where he or she has a right to be.

I watched some of his other videos at the same building. He is an ass and enjoys provoking so he can put up the videos on the website.
I agree with his principle but not with his actions. He could accomplish the same by being professional and a gentleman.
Whatever Tea party group has him for a member..... oh my....don’t ever associate with this idiot again.
“one of them attacked Skidmore.”
Grabbed his camera.
“Skidmore defended himself”
Skidmore proceeded to beat the heck out of the guard.
“Whatever Tea party group has him for a member..... oh my....dont ever associate with this idiot again.”
I missed that the first time. I certainly wouldn’t post videos bragging about my association with him.
