Chait: ‘Irrational’ Trump Has Destroyed GOP Establishment’s Amnesty Plan
breitbart.com ^ | 7/16/15

From Jonathan Chait writing at New York magazine:

The last Republican nominating contest was dominated by a succession of increasingly pathetic protest candidates — Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum — serving as placeholders with whom conservative activists could register their amorphous rage. The experience has instilled justifiable caution among reporters, some of whom (myself included) overstated the depth of support for the spoilers. We have all been predisposed to treat Donald Trump as a sideshow, and he certainly has done nothing to make himself a plausible candidate to win the Republican nomination. But Trump has made himself an important factor. His effect on the race to date has been larger — and, from the Republican standpoint, more damaging — than anybody expected.

The GOP’s most important strategic imperative was to structure its nominating contest so as to narrow the gap between its core voting base and the immigrant communities, especially Latino ones, it needs to regain national parity. The first and most important element of that plan was to pass comprehensive immigration reform, taking the issue off the table. That plan collapsed in 2014. The second element of the plan involved imposing some structure and control over their presidential debates, to avoid the 2012 debacle in which candidates competed with each other for the most draconian stance on immigration. No more electrified fences or self-deportation.

To see just how badly Trump has screwed up the intentions of the party elders, consider the results of a new Washington Post poll. Since his inflammatory comments describing immigrants as criminals, Trump’s favorable rating among Republicans has surged.

The top brass at the GOP CLEARLY want Amnesty and don’t care about border security either. They exist because of the Big Money guys...and the big money guys want the cheap (and sadly, reliable - relative to home-grown) labor that Open Borders brings.

The brass found a large number of people willing to be paid to act as Republican ‘advisers’ (most of them gay, by the way). Their job was to CONVINCE every significant candidate that Open Borders (and Illegal Immigration) was “just another issue”, like the latest water project, and that if they ignored the “complainers” (who wouldn’t even exist, except for talk radio), and pushed ahead on Amnesty, they would see MOUNTAINS OF MONEY from Karl Rove, and at no cost to themselves politically...plus the potential upside of MILLIONS of new Hispanic voters just ready to pull the trigger for the first Republican to support Amnesty (I guess it never occurred to these candidates that Hispanics that want Amnesty already have a party to go to...but I digress).

All but Cruz took the bait, but there were enough others to pretty much drown out Cruz.

And then Trump came along and told the party that he didn’t need their ‘advisers’ (most of them gay, by the way). Trump ALREADY knew where he stood on Open Borders and had plenty of other opinions that were not open to ‘refinement’ by the Republican ‘advisers’ (most of them gay, by the way) - which leads us to where we are today.

“the immigrant communities, especially Latino ones, it needs to regain national parity”

What is the evidence for this statement?

‘Irrational’ Trump Has Destroyed GOP Establishment’s Amnesty Plan

Be rational or irrational, I certainly hope that is the result.

“being diverse they are unable to summon the courage and wherewith all to set aside their own narrow positions to join a wider view that can end the problem”

Yes.

“What is the evidence for this statement?”

There isn’t any, but there is PLENTY OF EVIDENCE to the contrary - hence my tag-line and ‘about’ page.

So “irrational” means standing up for the rule of law, which then means “rational” means ignoring the laws in the interest of gaining some small increase in favor from a group that votes 70-80% Democrat regardless. Trying to out-democrat the democrats in NOT a winning strategy, yet the GOPe and their media cheerleaders keep trumpeting that from the rooftops.

This is so much like the 1990s Republican establishment's raving against California's Prop 187 voters. Jeb Bush, Jack Kemp, and William Bennett were out here called us stupid, bigots, xenophobes, purveyors of hate, and worse. They ordered the California Republican Party to reform itself.

Well it did and since Pete Wilson (re-elected and a big supporter of Prop 187 1994) there have been I believe two Republicans elected statewide and one of them is Schwarzenkennedy.

Regain national parity?

The Republican Party owns the Congress as of November 2014.

Amnesty and Obamacare were the two dominant issues that won them that.

Their main problem is they did nothing about either. Actually they did worse: they handed Obama a win by funding his abuse of power by issuing executive amnesty.

Trump is merely noting what actually won the Congress just 9 months ago and pushing it.

It's the world of seedy Leftists like Chait that doesn't exist except in his mind. He starts with a conclusion of what the world is like - completely unsupported by unpleasant facts - and tries to hustle the Republican party into going down his road.

It's a fantasy world that doesn't exist.

WHY do they think we want to give amnesty to criminals that are destroying the country in every way possible? I am so done with the GOP.

These republican “ESTABLISHMENT” were ready to “COMPROMISE” again. They have made all sorts of “AGREEMENTS” with these “CRONY CAPITALISTS”, have their hands out for whatever these “CRONY CAPITALISTS” were willing to pay them. Same with “COMMON CORE” and all the other plans that these people have. We, the voters, are just “PAWNS” to what their plans are. These people consider the word “COMPROMISE” as their “HOLY GRAIL”. It’s time that we, the people, rise up and throw these “COMPROMISERS” out of Washington.

Re the final paragraph; Just the fact that Trump has screwed up the plans of the GOPe for amnesty, and increased capitulation to Obunga and his minions makes him a winner in my book.

The fact that in a Nevada poll yesterday Trump not only won more of the general vote, he won the largest percentage of the Latino vote, just amplifies his status as the leader of the pack.

he won the largest percentage of the Latino vote,

That is the next 'truth bomb' Trump needs to drop and keep dropping. The 'legal immigrant' Latinos hate the illegals just as much as the rest of us. That will really start heads exploding.

Herman Cain was much more than a protest candidate. He scared the crap out of the race-baiting Dems. It’s why they called in Gloria Allred and the big guns to take him out.

It has become increasingly obvious that our Republic has been overthrown from within. Our so called leaders are complicit. We live in an Oligarchy who buys our leaders with large sums of money to undercut this nation and it’s citizens. This is why, even in power, the Republicans support Democratic treasonous initiatives with their votes. They are all in on it. One big happy rich family!

Trump is the only man capable of giving our Republic back into our hand. The elites are crapping their pants for fear that their house of cards will come tumbling down. And it will. People wake up. Fight with the only man who is one of us. Politicians have destroyed us.

It isn’t just illegal aliens, it’s legal foreigners who refuse to assimilate as well. It’s corporate and investor greed. How much money do you fat cats need? You are destroying the very nation that enabled your rise.

Their billion dollar cash machine has ensured our demise by systematically taking US jobs offshore and importing cheap labor.

This is exactly why we send them to Washington and they pass hideous laws guaranteeing our demise. Oligarchy. We are ruled by the international corporate class.

If you want your nation back, consider those points. Investors just love their QE fake profit gravy train. That too will stop. It is made out of thin air. I suggest you divest before it hits the fan.

Methinks that the Latinos, being of a “hotblooded” race, hold much deeper resentments on any given subject than we “coldblooded” caucasians do. Therefore, they have a much deeper revulsion to illegal border crashers than I do. I merely disapprove of them. The LEGAL Latinos hate their guts.

Amnesty?

What do you call 30+ MILLION criminal aliens BUT an invasion?

What do you call it when that same horde is encouraged, aided and given preference over the Citizens?

It’s TREASON and outright WAR (w/out needing to fire a shot)!

Never ever forget what these government SOB's did regarding CA prop 187.

CA held an historic free election and it won it big way back in '94. The corrupt in the state working with their insider fed co-conspirators burned the ballots and declared the victorious election illegal, and burned the ballots.

Never forget.
