Trump is not alone in disparaging comments about McCain's POW history
McCain was a pow prisoner over 4 decades ago. Since being released he has shown what a loathsome wife dumping backstabbing underhanded bribe taking illegal and terrorist supporting SOB he is.
I still remember what the MSM and Democrats did to Bob Dole... was that OK?
John McCain: Privileged War Hero, Liar, Collaborator, Traitor

Leftists are notorious for waving the bloody shirt, knowing that it insulates them from criticism.
From Vietnam to the GWOT, the rolls are full of them.
"I appreciate your inviting me. But what I don't understand ... (pause) ... you're suppose to have a committee of "12"

It’s funny and sad that they dropped the VA scandal like a it was nothing and now suddenly everyone cares about the Vets.
While it appears true that McCain has blocked access to information and action, the conclusions one draws from that are still unsubstantiated. Therefore, it is important to tread very carefully here.
Didn’t candidate Al Franken make similar remarks regarding the service of McCain? Met with noises of crickets from the compliant leftie media?
Freepers? Putting this reaction in context with previous reactions can only help in the current frenzy.
Good point....but what reason would he have to block such information? Protecting the Pentagon?
“I doubt I could cross the line and vote Republican. I have tremendous respect for McCain but I dont buy the war hero thing. Anybody can be captured. I thought the idea was to capture them. As far as Im concerned he sat out the war.”
Al Franken, 2000
There are a number of theories.
McCain critics believed he was blocking access to non-returned veterans or documents that had comments about his collaboration with the enemy while a POW. I’ve visited the Hanoi Hilton and his jail cell in a Christian mission about 5 years ago now. It was a terrible setting. On the other hand, he did participate in some communist propaganda, I’ve been told. I don’t recall it. The explanation is that torture gets you to do things you don’t agree with. I can see that. I know its true. Waterboard, for example, does work.
On the other hand, inexplicable types of collaboration to exist, and the conspiracy theorists said there was that kind of damning evidence against McCain.
McCain’s supporters always stated he did it to protect POW families who didn’t deserve to have old wounds opened up again.

Supposedly he did do a whole lot of talking and not necessarily from being tortured. I’m not going to fault him on that all these years later. But to deny POW families information on their loved ones...to block ANYTHING on the POW’s/MIA makes no sense. He was a POW. He should know what the families went through. If he was not going to be help get any and all information to these families....what was he doing on that committee? The only conclusion I can come up with was to lend credibility to its purpose, which was to shut the door on the information. Why would he do that? What did he get out of it?
It enabled him to keep collaboration information from getting out in public and injuring his political campaigns.
Amen.
He dumped his wife when he met the wealthy Cindy---her father is a beer distributor.
He's dined out too long as a "war hero."
Throw the bum out.
.... while US vets get the short end of the stick.
Could be.....I don’t know. He needs to answer for it, though. I can’t imagine being a family member of an MIA and have that door closed on me.
“McCains supporters always stated he did it to protect POW families who didnt deserve to have old wounds opened up again.”
Except having a POW family member is a current wound until the day they come home, dead or alive. McInsane prevented either of those options. 1,240 or so POWs left to rot in Vietnam because McInsane sold out to give Vietnam Most Favored Nation trading status.
