Trump's strong streak in polls has even skeptics thinking he could be GOP nominee

As they watched his infamous presidential campaign launch speech, in which he assailed Mexico for – as he put it – dumping its worst on the U.S. border, many observers declared that Donald Trump’s run for the White House was D.O.A.

When he did well in polls of likely GOP voters, many observers called it a fluke.

After he said Sen. John McCain, an Arizona Republican who was a Navy pilot and spent about five years in a North Vietnamese prison, was not a true hero, adding “I like people who weren’t captured,” many firmly believed it was the end for Trump.

But in polls after the McCain comments, which prompted even those in Trump’s party who had been rather quiet about the mogul to strongly condemn him, the flamboyant candidate continues to come out on top....

...“I don’t get a lot of pleasure in admitting this, but I think the reason his polling numbers have proven durable over the last month or so is because there’s an aspect of his message that is really resonating with some conservative voters,” The Hill quoted Republican strategist Matt Mackowiak as saying.

Robinson of Iowa says that given all this, it’s quite possible Trump could win the important Iowa caucuses.

TV/Movie Celebrities always steal the limelight from the other non-celebrity candidates.

Trump is the new Reagan. Their demeanor's were distinctly opposite, but they both embody BOLDNESS, STRENGTH & LEADERSHIP qualities America is DESPERATE for!

America is tired of having a soft and wimpy female president.

In the latest poll, Trump is beating Jeb Bush (former governor) and Marco Rubio (current Senator) in Florida.

LOL

He’s doing well in the polls because the LSM is devoting most of their GOP newstime/airtime to Trump, to the detriment of the non-GOPe GOP candidates. They would like nothing other than Trump crashing and burning at some point, leaving their preferred ¡Yeb! to collect the nomination. With the help of a good chunk of GOPe electorate willing to go along.

He IS the one I agree. I still can’t believe how easily he made most of the rest seem so ineffective.

Just goes to prove what people on this forum have been saying since it was first introduced by Jim.

People are hungry for truth. Conservatism is truth.

Conservatives aren’t lying to people. They aren’t sugar coating it. They aren’t favoring one group of people over another. They aren’t trying to destroy the nation. They are trying to return it to it’s original ideals.

The U. S. Constitution is what guides us. It limits government’s power and documents rights guaranteed to the people.

Destroying the premise of God destroys this document as surely as a successful invasion would.

Morals matter.

Republican Party, you seriously screwed up. This was your legacy for the taking. You abandoned it.

Trump has tapped in. Deal!

Republicans (leaders). NO DEAL!

He isn’t the average politico. People know him—they know he’s a hard nosed buinessman who will fire people—order them off his property. Talk off the cuff. They know he means business. He will not take things laying down—like Mittens did. He is an unabashed Rich guy—who is proud of his wealth. He lives in Trump Tower. If he didn’t exist we would have to invent him. Mitt Romney was embarassed by his money—calling him rich hurt him. Trump is happy being rich and would like you to be rich too. Its like Calling Clinton a womanizer—it didn’t work because we knew he was a tom cat. Calling out Truman for his saucy talk didn’t work too. It was part of him. The media is bringing out the long knives to cut Trump out before the debate. If they fail, and if he does well in the debate—he may well moved into 1600 Pen. Ave. January 20, 2017.

We’ll have to see what he brings to the debate. I would think most of the ‘debaters’ would not want to tangle in real time with Trump. Thereby, he could be statesmanlike, which he can do, too.

1600 PA Ave is a luxury downgrade from Trump Tower Penthouse, but the prestige of living there might make it acceptable.
