Walker Tells Private Group He'll Skip Florida Primary
RealClearPolitics ^ | July 28, 2015 | Rebecca Berg

Scott Walker has insisted he will be able to “compete anywhere in the country” as a candidate for president — but, at a private event in St. Louis on Sunday, Walker said he does not plan to compete in Florida, contradicting his own public assertions that he would not skip that primary.

During a fundraiser at the St. Louis home of Rex Sinquefield, Missouri’s most active Republican donor, Walker reasoned that it “doesn't make a ton of sense for him to pour cash into Florida” with Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio in the race, said one person who was present for Walker’s remarks. Bush is a former Florida governor, and Rubio is a senator from Florida.

Instead, Walker suggested he will focus on the Midwestern states with primaries around the same time, the source said — including Missouri, Illinois and Ohio, which are slated to hold their primaries March 15, the same day as Florida’s.

A second person who was present confirmed that Walker said it would not make sense for him to try to compete in Florida with Rubio and Bush in the race.

In a May interview with radio host Laura Ingraham, Walker made headlines when he suggested that he might pass over the Florida primary, ...

But Walker later attempted to walk back that remark, telling reporters during a trip to Florida in June: "If I didn't think I could compete, I wouldn't be here today.”

It is but it isn’t. Walker is a fine young governor but he doesn’t own a 757 and a 737 for back up. He stood up under fire. And I appreciate that very much but he aint no Donald. I think we are so lucky that Trump cares.

Hey, don’t get down on Walker. He is awesome but he is AA baseball and Trump is major league. I don’t mean that disparagingly . Trump, to me , is a God send. He takes no orders from Karl rove. He will erase Boehner and McConnell from the screens. He will re-establish our nuclear and military powers and get the military purged of queers and women in combat. He will do many other positive things.

"Walker could have been what Trump is now."

It's good that Walker is not Trump.

"Actually, Walker was Trump, briefly when he took on the unions and tenure in universities."

But Trump didn't and wouldn't do that. Walker did.

Santorum did that in VA in 2012, and he lived there. Numbers USA rates Santorum the No. 1 candidate on illegal immigration, way ahead of Trump.

As a matter of obvious fact, no candidate but Walker would take "on the unions and tenure in universities," because the following constituency would react exactly with what we're seeing on political discussion boards like this one.

” If Walker is out, the Bush chances increase.:

I don’t see Walker votes going to Jebsito, more likely to Cruz or Trump

Walker gets his orders from Washington DC.

Instead of the other way around.

If I had X amount of money and knew the best I could do in Florida was third-place...then I’d skip the state. I don’t think he’s walking around with tons of money. Nor do I think Cruz or Rubio have tons of money. All three will compete in thirty-odd states. The only two Republicans with enough money for fifty states...are Bush and Trump. That says a lot.

Now, maybe if Walker or Cruz do well in Iowa...more funding will come and they will add ten more states onto their agenda.

Florida is an expensive state to compete in and there are alreadytwo fairly popular Floridians in the race. There is only so much money and 16 others vying for the nomination.

Maybe you're unaware of the accomplishments of Walker against unions and other rabidly militant democrats in his own state. Cruz and Walker are the only two conservative candidates with the bona fides and testicles to compete. Yeah, Walker's a light weight. Grab a brain.

It does make Walker look like a Jeb stalking horse.....

I just mentioned that, yesterday. It’s a distinct possibility.

it would not make sense for him to try to compete in Florida with Rubio and Bush in the race

He is running 3rd AHEAD of Rubio, and he's quitting the state. LOSER! Just like he dropped out of Marquette with a 2.6 GPA.

This just shows he's been instructed to not compete on the Bush turf. And it tells us who his masters are. He's currently polling 3rd in FLA with a chance.

WINNER! That is exactly why this is being done. The corrupt GOPe is DESPERATE to stop Trump on Florida.

Unfortunately, he is running the typical milquetoast Republican presidential campaign.

He has a liberal wife, whom he allows to shoot her stupid mouth off about "disagreements" like "gay marriage." You expect this whipped boy yo have a backbone?

Numbers USA rates Santorum the No. 1 candidate on illegal immigration, way ahead of Trump.

NUSA put Walker ahead of Trump on immigration -- desppite the fact that Walker LIED about his amnesty support -- telling conservatives he opposed it, but then promising a closed-door donors' meeting he would support amnesty...

SCOTT WALKER ENDORSES PATH TO CITIZENSHIP FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS AT PRIVATE GOP DINNER

Santorum is unelectable, so irrelevant.

He knows he'll never be president, and wants to get the best GOPe deal he can get

My early gut instincts about Walker are proving to be right on the mark.

Despite whatever good he may have done in Wisconsin, the guy is GOP-e through and through.
