DES MOINES, Iowa —Donald Trump wants to offer free helicopter rides to children at the Iowa State Fair, reports The Daily Mail newspaper.

Trump told the British newspaper on Wednesday that "he's asked the Iowa State Fair for permission to set up the thrill ride at his own risk and expense."

The riders would board his $7 million, 12-seat Sikorsky S-76 helicopter that is the one in the opening credits of "Celebrity Apprentice."

I can only imagine the insurance policy to do something like that.

When I was a kid, we had a restaurant called “Wiener King” down on Wilkinson Blvd. They ran a promotion one Saturday that if you bought a Wiener King Special (chilli, slaw. onions and cheese, mmm-MMM) you got a free helicopter ride.
It was one of those glass bubble things with no doors, and it scared the crap outta me. However I still remember it to this day.
Shame on the Iowa state fair. Kids would love this, and remember it for the rest of their lives.

Real close.
All I remember was no door, me being a “husky” boy, and that itty-bitty seat belt keeping me from splattering on the parking lot when he banked.

My first helicopter ride was last year in a Vietnam Era huey. I sat on seat facing out. Beside me was a door gunner from that era. Fun ride but I kept one hand on a bar. I was strapped in but I had my camera in the other. I tried to stabilize and roll video. The vibration was too much. I flipped to idiot sport mode and, clicked away.

Pictures turned out mostly ok. I used a prime lens. The other problem was my neck strap wanted to lift up constantly.

There was a Cobra ride but out of my budget. Maybe if it’s at Winston-Salem next time, I will try for it and have a go pro.

I’m 6’3 and 260ish but I asked if I could even fit. They said yes but tight. I expected no.

Some very smart Freeper posted one time (paraphrasing) Helicopters don’t fly, the earth rejects them.

They definitely aren’t a smooth ride like a plane.

Of course a $10 million Sikorsky might be different.

Isn’t the iowa state fair one of the fairs that has a recurring “teen” problem?

Yep. ‘Beat Whitey’ nights. Like the knockout game. Covered up by most local media except for two local radio talk guys, Jan Mickelson and Simon Conway.

Trump should fly over the State Fair and throw turkeys out of the helicopter:

“As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly”
