Boy, was I wrong about Donald Trump. Here’s why.
Washington Post ^ | 8/4/2015 | Chris Cillizza

Donald Trump is now doubling the rest of the Republican field in the average of the last five national polls. And polling out of early states like New Hampshire puts him in the pole position in those places too.

All of which makes having written a piece on June 17 headlined, "Why no one should take Donald Trump seriously, in one very simple chart" that argued why, well, no one should take Donald Trump seriously, pretty embarrassing. Not to mention wrong.

Trump and Jebbie Fav/Unfav numbers pretty close now. People are more paying attention to him, and not a perceived reputation.

Well, well, well. This is quite interesting. Funny how many were quoting Chris’s article just a couple weeks ago.

Don’t beat yourself up too badly. I didn’t think Trump was serious at first. He got my attention with his announcement speech. Then he earned my respect for his stand on illegal immigration and for bringing attention to the victims of illegals.

Now I have found him to have the most impressive tax plan I have seen anywhere. I look forward to the details of his other positions that are given in his revised book, “Time To Get Tough”.

I find it impossible to not like Donald Trump and admire his achievements. We could have a winning team with Cruz on the ticket to keep him grounded in Conservatism and the Constitution.

The WaPo writer still doesn’t understand it. He understands the numbers and why his assessment was so wrong, but he doesn’t begin to understand why.

To do that, he’d have to believe that the historic victory Americans gave Congress were not an endorsement and approval of their past performance, but one rather of “here’s your last chance, sucker. don’t f@ck it up.”

They did and somebody came along and told us all in no uncertain terms what these illegal little Mexicans [my definition is any illegal entering here from our southern border] really mean for us as a sovereign nation.

He also, like the establishment Republican leadership, politicians, pundits and consultants, voiced our high disdain for that diversity “illegals bring us a richness” meme crap.

The bottom line is Americans who work and pay taxes aren’t buying into the notion we have to pander to that thought in order to get a few more percentage points of legal immigrant Hispanics under the tent if it means 50 million more illegals converted to instant Democrat voters.

Chris doesn’t understand it, Jebito doesn’t understand it. He’s too invested in his Mexican heritage.

There’s little nor nothing new as to any article in which Chris Cilizza is wrong. It would be monumental, however, to find an article where Chris Cilizza is right. This might be the first headline I’ve ever read of his where he is being accurate. As long as he doesn’t call himself a lying scumbag piece of crap, I guess we’ll be OK.

This is the new strategy to get rid of Bush/Clinton opposition. They are going to pretend to like Trump. Lol

Why did I miss Trump's appeal so badly? <\I>

still miss it. the reason Trump is doing so well is that the entire Republican base has all woken up at the same time realizing that we have been played for absolute Stooges and fools by the Republican establishment

The author made the same mistake commie metrosexuals always make: they don’t believe that conservatism is actually believed. When conservative Republicans start to believe Trump is one of them, his numbers will go up.

He was wrong because he looked at worthless info and considered it valuable.

Favorable/unfavorable is a snap shot, subject to the population’s fickleness, just look at Hillary’s collapsing favorability. It doesn’t predict anything, if anything it’s a trailing indicator.

Those who are saying Donald Trump has no chance of becoming president at this early stage must have some plan to get rid of him if he does make it. I can’t think of any other reason at this time with his poll numbers as to why they would say that.

But he has succeeded in both cases of fulfilling his quote of column inches, and keeping his paycheck. That’s all these political writers care about and it’s a source of continual amazement to me that people on FR and elsewhere pay the slightest attention to their blathering, must less take the time to post it for others to pay attention to.

They will never go away because they’ve written crap, or haven’t got the facts right, or mischaracterize things. They WILL go away if nobody reads their crap.

Man do I differ with Trump on a lot of things. But things I agree with him on, like loving America, wanting us to be great and proud again, defending the southern border; I could live with him as President.
I just want a President who love this Country and will do what he can to make it great instead of making my head hang in shame and embarrassment.
