You’re working with a small clump of cells and deciding whether you should derive stem cells.”

how backward. Modern technology shows the development of an unborn baby. Krauti needs to look at some 4D prenatal ultrasounds

Question: When or how did or does any individual’s life begin? It began with the joining of an egg and sperm. That one specific act is the beginning of an individual. Before that one specific act of the joining together of an egg and sperm, there is only the possibility that an egg will be fertilized or a sperm will fertilize an egg, which allows for the prevention of conception, yet once a conception occurs, this conception is an individual. Once upon a time, we were all conceptions.

There is a (UN) World Food Program being aired these days non-stop on HULU.

In it they herald the incredible gifts to mankind that hungry dying kids will never provide.

The similarities to one that could be run to the brilliant things aborted fetuses could have contributed to mankind is unmistakeable.

This is not the commercial I’m speaking of, but it certainly touches on the flavor. I think it’s worth a minute of our time to realize the similarities.

The hungry vs the aborted

Jeremiah 1:5 gives the short answer...

Females might consider their period monthly murder but it’s not the same thing. No complete human DNA for one thing.

Yes, conception is when a unique human being is created. The fetus may undergo dramatic changes early in life which has to do with human origins but it is not the less human during its development. These changes are a result of the humans genetic heritage but do not make the child any less human.

Jeremiah 1:5 seems to me a different thing altogether. Jeremiah is saying that God told him he was sent to earth to prophesize. That his whole life was planned by God from the beginnning. This is particular to himself, and is his claim to authority.

I'm not so sure that's entirely true. Isn't there something about "quickening" in there? I thought there was.

Nothing about quicken/-ed/-ing in my Bible relative to conception and gestation.

Ps. 139:16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

Is this not clear? This is carried into effect when two haploid cells, sperm (called exactly that in the Greek) and egg combine to form the zygote, with the person's construction dictated by the materials of the first coded cell.

Mt. 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

Lk. 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Cell differentiation takes place pretty quickly after fertilization.

Would the Bible lie about that which "modern" science shows unquestionable? I think not, and am quite sure from the doctrinal standpoint.

I consider each of us to be no less than Jeremiah in God’s eyes. God knew of us before conception and while our outlook was different from Jeremiah’s, we did have one in God’s plan. Psalm 139 contains another look at this subject by David. Thanks for your thoughtful response.

Check. Wikipedia has an article on Quickening which is quite interesting and explains the "ancient" origins of this as a legal concept in Western law. It is made quite clear that the idea is NOT of Biblical origin, and a number of ( clickable ) references explain the Judaic tradition concerning the matter of foetal rights.

We have funerals for pets.

That does not equal personhood either.

Krauthammer has difficulty identifying Things That Matter.

I am glad you were able to affirm this. Of course, you understand that Wiki is not always reliable, but I often find that it turns up some good reference. Nothing can supplant a thorough literature research.
