Legal immigration threatens our society
WND ^ | August 07, 2015 | Curtis Ellis

[...] Today’s massive influx of people has been devastating to the middle class. “During the low-immigration period from 1948-1973, real median compensation for U.S. workers increased more than 90 percent. By contrast, real average hourly wages were lower in 2014 than they were in 1973, four decades earlier,” the report says.

And the number of green cards doesn’t tell the whole story. In addition to permanent resident green cards, Washington has been handing out “temporary” work permits, such as H1B and L1 visas, referred to as “non-immigrant” visas. Immigration reform legislation supported by Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz would triple the number of guest-worker visas.

Unrestricted immigration is the holy grail sought by the corporate elite that funds both political parties. They want cheap labor, any place, any time and to get it, they will move factories from Canton, Ohio, to Canton, China. Barring that, they will bring “temporary” workers to toil here.

Their vision and goal is a universal economic order in which “people, goods and capital flow freely.” This is precisely the language used to describe both the European Union and the Trans-Pacific Partnership proposed by President Obama.

Its proponents idealize such a borderless world as a formula for world peace as John Lennon would imagine. But it is the peace of slaves. Deracinated rootless labor has been the scourge of mankind since time immemorial. Today’s Rohingya refugees harvesting palm oil on plantations in Malaysia and Filipina domestics scrubbing palace floors in the Persian Gulf are in league with the migrant labor Cecil Rhodes connived to dig diamonds from the fields of Kimberley. [...]

H-1B ping. Let me know if you're not on the list and want to be added (or are and want to be removed).

Allowing the free market to work for USA labor and legal American citizens is much more efficient than paying Americans welfare and food stamps and making them unemployed with unemployment compensation and dependent, while subsidizing business owners with cheap imported legal or illegal labor that is competition.

While citizens belong to a nation and have rights, a “guest worker” is a stateless person with no ties to any community, only to the paymaster that sponsors him. That is whom our citizens must now compete with for jobs.

Precisely.

Illegal “immigration” must be totally eradicated. In fact, I don't even like the term “illegal immigrant” — it's too weak, not much more than “illegal left turn” or “illegal fishing”. The phrase out to be CRIMINAL INVADER. Those who cross into our sovereign land without following due process are nothing less than committing an act of war and should be treated as such.

I'm also a hard liner when it comes to so-called "legal immigration" and cite the words of President Calvin Coolidge in this regard.

American institutions rest solely on good citizenship. They were created by people who had a background of self-government. New arrivals should be limited to our capacity to absorb them into the ranks of good citizenship.

America must be kept American!

For this purpose it is necessary to continue a policy of restricted immigration. It would be well to make such immigration of a selective nature with some inspection at the source, and based either on a prior census or upon the record of naturalization. Either method would insure the admission of those with the largest capacity and best intention of becoming citizens.

Those who do not want to be partakers of the American spirit ought not to settle in America.

We keep hearing how American students are doing so terrible in math and science. Has it become a necessity?

If we don’t want the best and the brightest

H1-B is not about "the best and the brightest" - it's about low-salary indentured serfs.

Indeed.

I cringe when conservatives are vocal against illegal immigration, but then speak mindlessly about how much they support and love legal immigration, without any mention or consideration of numbers.

It is unending mass legal immigration that is shifting the demography of the nation ever more towards the Left. If mass legal immigration is not cut off (like the great Calvin Coolidge did to the last wave), then conservatism and probably the country too are doomed.

It reminds me of a quote I recently saw attributed to Ramesh Ponnuru of National Review. Apparently he once said that it’s not so much that we have an immigration problem, but rather that we have a problem with illegal immigration mostly from one country with Mexico.

I was struck by how stupid that comment was, especially coming from a conservative. Even if we had no illegal immigration at all, we’d still have a million or so, mostly natural democrat immigrants per year. We’d still have the absurd Diveristy Lottery visas. We’d still have unsuitable refugee and asylum visas. We’d still have chain migration spreading its tentacles ever deeper in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and other parts of Central and South America. And if the Democrats, or Republicans like Bush, Rubio, Graham (and sadly Cruz too) get their way then that influx would be massively increased, hastening the demographic doom of conservatism.

First of all, I'm all for a redo of Lady Liberty along these lines:

And no, I'm not going to knock the easy target of France for her gift to America of the statue. I'm sure they meant well and she's become an iconic symbol of our Republic's freedoms.

What I do protest are the words of native New York Emma Lazarus who penned these words added to the the Statue of Liberty in 1903, more than a decade and half after the statue was inaugurated:

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!
Emma...Emma...Emma. No thanks. We have plenty of wretched refuse here already. NO MORE! Upon further consideration, perhaps an addition is needed for that lady in the harbor.

Ms. Lazarus probably had primarily in mind poor but well educated and civilized Jews fleeing antisemitic oppression - not today's ignorant barbarians.

Obama has been Robbing the American People of Wealth, Health and Liberty

But this monster would not even have been elected if democrats hadn't given green cards (citizenship) to 45 million 3rd world immigrants since 1970 (1 million new green cards per year). these 45 million plus their kids plus illegals are all leftists who vote for leftist policies and is why the USA has moved to the left and why the USA is in big trouble

In 1970 we Americans had the greatest civilization ever created . democrats decided that all this freedom and prosperity , middle class etc was no good and that America needed to become a socialist state in the model of the USSR. To turn the USA socialist democrats changed immigration laws to to import 3rd world leftists every year to destroy our culture, capitalism and freedom and install socialism/tyranny. And this is why the decline occurred and will get exponentially worse as immigrants reach critical mass.

Immigration determines all the other issues. read Ann Coulter’s new book to see what we need to do to save America

Immigrants are also leftists.

This is why democrats have imported 50 million of these 3rd world leftists to legally become citizens of the USA( legal immigration)

Funny that most self proclaimed conservative career politicians favor more immigration (H1-B, Obama trade(”trade in services”), etc.

To all these politicians:
Wouldn’t allowing more leftists to live in the USA trump all your supposed conservative causes as the Left’s numbers would increase which would lead to the passing of the left’s causes and defeat of conservative causes? Yes

If these are the same American STEMs I get to interview once a quarter, there’s a reason why they are unemployed. Not all graduates are the same. Those that are good have a job on hand before graduation.

Whereas all H-1B hires are top quality? I've interviewed, and worked with, H-1Bs who didn't know their posterior orifices from a hole in the ground - and many other FReepers have posted similar observations.

(What's with all the H-1B smoochers FReepmailing me their nonsense? No guts to state their views publicly? One smoocher, whose profile page claims that most FReepers are morons, has mailed me twice now to moronically characterize H-1Bs as "the best".)
