After a harrowing encounter with a grizzly bear that broke into their home, one woman is glad her husband is a skilled hunter.
Early Sunday morning, Niki Traverse’s dog wouldn’t stop barking like mad, prompting her to wake up and check to see what was wrong. The Traverses live in British Columbia, Canada, in a mountain region, CBC reports. As soon as she entered into the kitchen, she saw a male grizzly bear feasting on cat and dog food in a cupboard after it had climbed through a window left open because of the heat.
Niki immediately ran back to the bedroom and woke up her husband Mark, who then brought out his hunting rifle.
“I went to the kitchen, turned the light on and where the bear was, he came at me and I took a shot,” Mark told CBC.

Good hide for tanning... good meat to eat... and bear grease tastes good on just about anything. Rendered bear fat will take alot of ‘gamey’ out of any meat.... even makes nutria rat palatable.
And, for being a good watchdog, I would make sure the dog gets a big chunk of the liver and, if it was a male bear, toss him the testicles as a snack. Dogs love testicles from all creatures. At least mine do.

All these can make a canoe out of a bears brain pan.
Of course that is only the few I have... there are endless calibers to add to that.
Some of them have tracking devices. It would be hard to convince someone of a life or death scenario after they track a gps device to your freezer.
That is true.
But I would rather not be consumed raw either. A table cloth is a must and the GOOD silverware. A nice Chianti...

The cat is named Jack and he treed the bear not once but twice. He would have gone up the tree after the bear but he had been de-clawed. He kept the bear up the second tree until Jack's human staff member called him off.
Note: Dogs have owners, cats have staff.

In Canada, carrying a handgun for protection in the bush is much more difficult and applicants have to go through an arduous process to receive authorization. An individual needing protection from wild animals in remote areas is one of only four reasons an individual can possess a concealed handgun in British Columbia.
Why S&W developed the .50 cal. revolver. A bit too much gun for a Trayvon, but great for griz.
