They don’t want to lose to Bernie Sanders for any reason. It’s all fun and games until an avowed socialist starts drastically adjusting the top marginal tax rate.

First, we have a socialist in the White House now. Second, Sanders can’t raise tax rates without Congress.
I really believe the Pubs love the situation as it is now. They have an excuse for not getting anything done, and they can use the president to scare conservatives into voting for them.
