ANYTIME an agency receives taxpayer subsidies, ANY taxpayer has the right to challenge the expenditure.
In order for an agency to get Federal tax dollars, the state must request same, and put up matching funds at state level.
Jindal is doing exactly the right thing. By canceling the state support, he’s saying, we don’t want no stinkin’ Fed money for PP either. He’s cut the cord between Medicaid and PP by taking PP out of the state’s Medicaid budget.
Obama can’t do a thing about it. What can he do? Force Louisiana to take Federal money and match it with the state’s portion? He’d have to take over the Louisiana legislature. No can do. Can he threaten Louisiana’s entire Medicaid allotment? Seems like that’s what he’s suggesting. But he’d have to fundamentally transform existing law. And he’d need the US Congress to do that.
Jindal’s way is the way to go. Bombard your STATE legislators with calls and emails AS WELL AS your congress critters in DC.
People, people, we have POWER if we but use it-—in your state Capitol.
Also locally. Is your town / neighborhood zoned for a slaughterhouse? Is there racial disparity? Are laws being violated? Did your city council and zoning commission hold appropriate public hearings for TAXPAYERS before allowing PP facilities to operate? If not, they’re illegal. Shut them down.
ANd I bet the Chinese are in the business of buying baby parts for their restaurant industry.
