It's worse than that. My CA local water district installed so-called "smart" water meters a couple of years ago. Now my bills come with a graph showing down to the teaspoonful how much water I used the previous month and any overuse above Jerry Brown's water use edict. Unfortunately the former Flower Children who control the Legislature are fine with that. They all yearn for the day they'll be in the position of making ever-stricter rules to control us yokels and "save the planet."
Remember George Orwell's prophetic line: "If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever."
