I think the fermented stuff benefits from the moderation and balancing of the phytochemicals.
The WORST soy foods or estrogenic effect are the FAKE FOODZ, the highly-processed ones that are designed to resemble regular dairy milk and meat products. Unfermented soy cheese slices and shreds, fake hot dogs, sausages, burgers, luncheon meats, chicken, and turkey. Worse are soy protein "health" and concentrates.
Worst of the worst is soy eaten by pregnant women, who are mistakenly keen to eat excessive amounts of protein (over 100 grams a day) and find that easy to do by chugging down soymilk, noshing on soy protein bars and grilling up soy burgers and such. Recent studies link that to birth defects in the genitalia of male children (hypospadia the most immediately obvious) and God only knows what other sexual abnormalities as the poor boy approaches puberty. Almost that bad is soy baby formula. It would constitute 100& of the baby's diet. Everything --- every blessed thing--- that is "right" about mama-milk, is WRONG about soy baby formula. God help the baby boys.
