Donald Trump: Tax the Rich More
CNN ^ | Aug. 28, 2015 | Heather Long

Donald Trump is finally showing us more of his economic plan beyond the "Make America Great Again" slogan on his red hat.

America has now learned:

-- He wants to tax the rich more and the middle class less.

-- He wants to lower corporate taxes.

-- He wants to cut government spending and stop raising the debt ceiling.

"The hedge fund people make a lot of money and they pay very little tax," Trump said in an interview Wednesday with Bloomberg. "I want to lower taxes for the middle class."

In short, Trump is willing to raise taxes on himself and those like him.

Many hedge fund managers and real estate investors are able to list their earnings as "carried interest" because of an IRS tax rule. They are able to cast their earnings as investment gains instead of income, which allows them to be taxed at a lower rate.

"You've seen my statements. I do very well. I don't mind paying a little more in taxes. The middle class is getting clobbered in this country," he said.

What is he proposing today? Is that unreasoned to ask, or point to? Does it matter that he is pushing a private sector solution? Does it matter that he wants to drop state lines and allow insurance companies to compete nationwide? Does it matter that he has said he wants to see competition lower policy costs and broaden the numbers of different polices available? Evidently not, because I don’t see any praise for the direction he sees the nation heading after Obamacare is dumped. I only see folks continuing to hawk his thoughts from 2000 to 2008.

If he said right now that he wanted to see people covered like Canada or Scotland, would that mean that he doesn’t really mean he wants a private sector solution? Would it mean he wants single-payer?

If so, why does he want state lines dropped and insurance companies to compete nation-wide? Why would he reference competing costs or a proliferation of different policies? Is that compatible with single-payer?

I'm only pointed out that he praised Canada's and Scotland's single payer three weeks ago at the debate.

No that's not compatible with single-payer.

I would speculate that his conservative advisors told him to correct what he said at the debate.

Taxing the rich has been and is the Democrat mantra. It never works because shit rolls downhill and always lands on the middle class.
I don’t want anyone to pay more taxes. I want spending reduced. We have huge Departments in Federal Government that should not even exist. Many Departments that are way to large and need to be cut. We give way too much money t nations and people that we should not give a red cent too.....

END entitlements to illegal aliens. This would ALSO trigger SELF-DEPORTATION. That right there would save the U.S. BILLIONS of dollars.

I’m in the top 1%. I know the numbers, do you?
Reread my post. The families making $500,000 a year pay a hell of a lot higher effective rate than those making $500 million.

He wants to tax the rich more

No he doesn’t, a 15% maximum tax rate is lower than current tax rates and he wants to cut tax rates for middle class and corporate taxes. Your article is pro-Trump when the details are understood...thanks noob.

Trump is not raising the tax rate on the most wealthy, it is currently at 39.6% for those making over $413k. 15% for those making over a million is a tax rate cut not a hike!!

We now have 10%, 15%, 25%, 28%, 33%, 35% and 39.6% income tax rates. Trump’s proposed 5%, 10%, 15% are lower, ztax is shoveling shite and if he really was for lower tax rates he would be in favor Trump’s rate policies. This guy is disruptor troll...maybe a Paulbot, or Yebbot or Sandersbot...mark my words, he will be found out. ZOT!

As for hedge fund profits, Trump is talking about those who pay almost zero taxes on their whole income because of the asinine tax loophole deductions.

Thanks for the info, z taxman. And thanks for not calling Trump names but just stating the facts.

I’m not well versed on all the tax levels, so your presentation provides more than I knew.

It would appear your take on it is right.

My big beef with tiered taxation isn’t that it’s unfair to tax people with little income at a different rate, it’s that they want to take taxes from me to provide and “earned income tax credit” to them.

That’s just outright theft. It’s the Robin Hood act.

I didn’t read all the Posts, but if the current Top Income Tax Rate is 39.6% not including the additional 3.9% Obamacare Tax on Capital Gains, how is Trump being accused of wanting to raise Income Taxes of he is proposing a Top Income Tax Rate of 15%?

I like the idea of the Lowest Wage Earners paying a 1% Income Tax so they have some skin in the Game.

I see Trump’s Proposal as a graduated Flat Tax.

Does anyone know what happens to the SS and Medicare Taxes everyone is paying and the matching Employer Contributions?

I agree and I see Trump wanting to make taxes fairer and lower , he has said positive things about a fair tax and a flat tax. Plus his get rid of all the tax regulations sounds very much like end the IRS to me. Watch he will lay out a very clear and sound lower taxes plan built on the advise of conservative experts on the issue, that is the way Trump rolls, but he is not unknowledgable on the issue, it is clear he has been formulating this and other conservative pro-America polices for many years.

It is disappointing to hear so many Freepers buy this bs article and ztax bs spin when the facts/details are right in front of them. Makes one wonder if ‘they’ really want lower taxes and if maybe FR is awash with Rino disinformation trolls.
