Trump attended big-donor fundraiser last month

Despite his prior pledge to self-fund his campaign, the billionaire businessman now appears to be embracing big donors.

...even as Trump publicly scorned other candidates’ use of super PACs, he tacitly gave approval to the Make America Great Again PAC by attending a fundraiser the group held [in July].

Trump spoke for between 10 and 15 minutes at the mid-July fundraiser, where about 200 people packed into a private residence in Manhattan.

“There are so many people wanting to contribute and I am so grateful for their support. I appreciate the moral investment in my vision to Make America Great Again,” Trump said in an e-mailed statement to POLITICO Friday.

Trump’s previously unreported appearance at a PAC fundraiser is striking, given his frequent criticism of the role of PACs in other candidates’ campaigns.

On Sunday, he further opened the door to big donor money, saying he would consider taking some sizable contributions for his campaign — so long as there are no strings attached.

“We have a lot of small contributors. I would even take big contributors, as long as they don’t expect anything,” Trump said...

...he proclaimed during his announcement speech on June 16 that he would self-finance his run.

“I’m using my own money. I’m not using the lobbyists. I’m not using donors. I don’t care. I’m really rich,” Trump said.

... it’s not clear the extent of the ties between Trump and the five super PACs.... None appear to be run by former Trump aides or close associates, unlike some of the groups supporting other candidates...

“Any and all donations to either the Donald J. Trump for President campaign or Super PACs looking to support Mr. Trump as the front runner for the Republican nomination are greatly appreciated, but totally unsolicited,” a campaign spokeswoman said...

He commented on the meeting the other day in his speech. He said he told them he didn’t need their money and did not want to be obligated to anyone.

People want to be a part of this. They should be able to. One person should not carry the burden alone. Years from now, they can say to their grandchildren that they had a part.

He cannot control PACS. Jeb got a black hand and an itty bitty plane from one.

Despite his prior pledge to self-fund his campaign, the billionaire businessman now appears to be embracing big donors.

Trump just said today that he had a meet and greet but he's not taking any money. He said he likes getting $9 from individuals.

Trump said there are 3-5 PACS starting but he doesn't know who the people are and he has nothing to do with it.

During the press conference Trump said it was not a fundraiser for his campaign, and money taken was to offset for food and accommodations.

On Sunday, he further opened the door to big donor money, saying he would consider taking some sizable contributions for his campaign — so long as there are no strings attached.

In 2011, Trump defended his donations to New York Democrats in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity that April, proclaiming that in the state, “everyone is Democratic” and implying that to donate otherwise would be waste of his money.

So Trump gave to Democrats in NY because he expected he would get something for his donation.

Another day, another flip flop. But...but...but...he's "evolving".

That’s what all the candidates say. But tonight appears to be the third time Trump appeared at an event where members of one of the PACs was taking donations.

CNN describes the 2nd one, earlier this week, hosted at Ivanka’s in-laws.

http://www.cnn.com/2015/08/27/politics/donald-trump-fundraising/

Trump attended a fundraising event Sunday at the home of real estate developer Charles Kushner and his wife, Seryl — Ivanka Trump’s in-laws — on the Jersey Shore. Some attendees were asked to pony up $10,000 for a group called Make America Great Again.

Donors were given the option of making contributions to the super PAC or to the nonprofit entity, noting their personal information would be kept private if they chose to contribute to the nonprofit, according to an invitation to the event.

...some guests said they attended Trump’s weekend fundraiser and donated — begrudgingly — because they did not want to jeopardize their business relationships with the Kushners or the Trumps, according to an attendee.

OK, it does appear tonight’s event is not related to the PACs but is just hosted by a supporter. Like you said, the price tag tonight appears to be $100 per person so may not really raise any money beyond the costs.

Obviously, for Trump, sucking up all the air in the News room goes well will sucking up all the GOP cash from other candidates.

Thus, the money flows Trumps direction, and the GOP is uphill from the flow.

LOL, the information is so specific there and with actual quotes from Trump’s campaign. If there was anything wrong with the facts, the campaign would be talking about it.
