The outsider, non-politician duo of Donald Trump and Ben Carson continue to lead the Republican field in Iowa and are the only candidates in double digits among the 17-person field, according to a poll released Saturday night.
Trump, the billionaire businessman and entertainer, leads the pack with 23 percent of the vote in the Iowa Poll, conducted by Ann Selzer for the Des Moines Register and Bloomberg. Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, has 18 percent. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz each polled at 8 percent.

That said, he will play a role in this new administration.
Perhaps in designing the replacement for Obamacare.
Ted is staying steady and rising. If Walker was not from neighboring Wisconsin, Ted would be in double digits.

Agreed. Trump will take Cruz over Carson for VP. But Carson can get a good cabinet position.
So Cruz is now tied for third place with Walker, who was once the going-away leader and that’s not news?
He could run interference with Congress for Trump.

Trump is very popular because he is both mesmerizing and fun to watch.
No matter where you stand on him, every day he brings up something new.
This guy creates fresh stories every news cycle.
No other candidate is able to bring that to the table.

We’ve had so many Trump threads, is there analysis on why Dr. Carson shot up to 2nd place and remained there, basically since the first debate?
Second most posted threads are about Cruz, yet many polls showed him not cracking 10%.
What has Dr. Carson done in his campaign for such result?

This proposed model has the President directly managing six subordinates which is optimal.

Doctor Benjamin Carson as Surgeon General
Lynnette Hardaway and Rochelle Richardson would be great as President Trumps Co-Press Secretaries.
Obamacare is doomed—to be replaced by Trumpcare that will give good health care—make a profit-—and cover all. Dr. Carson could restructure the VA.
I came across Ben Carson a few years ago, sent him a letter on a certain issue, and received the most gracious and encouraging page long response directed to me by name. I would be proud to vote for him if he is our candidate.
Can you just see Cruz sitting in the President of the Senate chair, glowering down on McConnell...
I can imagine him sitting in that chair, but can't imagine him glowering.
I wish he had that in him.
Carson would make a great VicePresident! He’s very smart. He will not be a yes man to Trump, but his own man.
Trump can give him an actual job straightening out ObamaCare, instead of being a figurehead and going to funerals, like all the other Vice Presidents.

They keep underestimating Carson. I think Trump will be smart enough to chose him. It will shore up Trump’s support. We need two outsiders.
For someone to surpass all the other candidates except Trump tells us how formidable a candidate he really is. They tried to push Carly after the debates, but it didn’t work. Carson has substance. The media tried to ignore him, but he’s not going away. Trump doesn’t need my money, so I give it to Carson’s campaign instead.
Carson is a very quick learner. I can see a difference in his campaign style just from a few months ago. He really felt that this was something he had to do, but didn’t seem to enjoy doing it. Now, you can see his confidence growing and I think he is actually starting to enjoy it.
How about “Crump”?
Yup. And Cruz will make certain that all activities are within the bounds of the Rule of Law and the Constitution. Trump for four and Cruz for eight!
