I have always been a fan of the flat tax. The fair tax is an improvement over existing, but is not as good as the flat tax for various reasons. One is, it more of a negative to family formation, which most would agree has been a killer to American society for the last 40 years.
The hedge fund manager tax issue I strongly disagree with you. If I make 25 million in management fees and only spend 1 million on personal living expenses, and roll the rest back into the fund year after year, I pay the highest rate on the 1 million, and the 24 million remaining either doesn’t get taxed, or is taxed at the lowest capital gains tax. An out an out scam, still in place because hedge fund managers are big money raisers for both parties. Most hedge fund managers will admit this is most unfair if you ask them. Trump knows this, which he has referenced many times.
Regardless, you will not get rid of the IRS in the first go around, but what Trump has outlined is a big improvement, and only he could possibly get it done.
