Clown Show 2016: Progress To Date

MOST ENTERTAINING PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION OF MY LIFETIME!

Without question—it is a statement I’ve said repeatedly on-air, and one that comes out often in private conversations.

Look at the interest level. People who have never voted in primary elections are turning out by the thousands to see the consummate socialist at one end of the spectrum, and by the tens of thousands to see a man who brags how well he’s beat the system of free markets. I don’t expect most of these people to vote in the actual primary elections—because they probably won’t—but man is it fun to watch.

There’s the contrast of those side-by-sides as well. Bernie Sanders is literally incapable of getting his four grown men security force to remove two loud mouths from #BlackLivesMatters from his own stage—literally giving them his microphone while he stands off on the corner pondering the benefits of pastrami on rye. Meanwhile in camp Trump, all the big guy has to say is a whispered, “GO” and the brute force literally kicks the anchor for Univision out of the event—before letting him back in.

Donald took his airplane to an Alabama event, Hillary drove her truck to Iowa, Vice President Biden is motorcading his possible entry, and I think Scott Walker has ridden his Harley to a State Fair or two.

Debate one for the Republicans was the most watched event in cable news history, and while there was a bit of snark, most viewers thought it was a productive, well executed debate, and for my money the most substantive debate the GOP has ever actually been given in my lifetime. I mean not one question about birth control, legitimate rape, or just getting along.

Depending on who you asked there were also a lot of winners. The seventeen campaigns all issued victory press releases. The Fox News focus group overwhelmingly believed Gov. Mike Huckabee had won, The Drudge (vote as many times as you want to) poll showed Trump won it, and a lot of women were surprised to learn that the names Carly and Megyn also made a strong stand on the grounds of competency when it comes to elective politics. Contrast that with the woman running for the Democrats joking about snapchats that delete themselves, and how she might wipe something that was in a bathroom with “a cloth” and I’m pretty sure even independent women thought it was a good night for their sex.

When you try to summarize where we stand, one party is loaded with maybe the most competent class of people who have actually accomplished things in their pursuits—lots of Governors who took on unions and won, two Governors who created more jobs in each of their states than the rest of the nation did over the same course of time, and three Senators who basically led the take over of the Senate by being darlings of something called the Tea Party. And oddly—none of these people lead the race. The winner of the previous Iowa Caucus is so far back in the pack people forget he’s running, and the guy who won the most number of votes in the history of the Iowa Caucus has a far superior ground game in place than he did the year he won.

But it seems that almost none of this matters because the front runner continues to get mouthy, and take bigger leads. He insults women—for biological reasons, and zooms ahead. As a result the GOP look like desperate jokers because they are now trying to “force him” to sign a pledge of loyalty to the party.

I hate to tell you this guys, but if your front runner can’t be convinced that he needs to be loyal to your cause in order to defeat the other side, you’ve got much bigger problems than him.

It is a spectacle the likes of which we may never live through again. But it is a beautiful thing to behold.

If the future of all free civilization didn’t rest so much on it’s outcome.

Because in much greater seriousness, immigration is a top issue, but not any more so than national security, protecting the lives of the innocent pre-born, setting our economy on a path to stability, creating an economic reality where the entrepreneur class begins to create jobs, and we affirm the value of strong families.

Our crises are economic, terrorism, productivity, and liberty related. But the cause of all of them is a morality free existence that the progressive left has shoved down the throats of free people for the last two generations. All of which are now catching up to us.

Being a highly productive member of the talk radio world, this election is great for my job, at this point. But my heart aches for the depth of the real matters facing us, and how it’s all getting co-opted by one word names. (Trump, Hillary, Bernie, Jorge.)

And how deep am I into this column and I only now even mention the name, “Jeb?”

The Volkswagon is circling the center ring and out-steps, “the comb-over, the pant-suit, the communist, the establishment," and soon, "maybe the 'crazy Uncle.’”

But if this is the limits of what becomes of the vetting for our next public servant number one, I shudder to think the pain that still awaits us.

*******************************

HUH?? The voting booths are going to be the scene of stampedes if Trump is the nominee. Everyone I know is “itching” to vote for him - young, old & former Obamanites. They’d vote for Cruz, too. Jebito? Rubio? Christie? Kasich? Meh.

But the cause of all of them is a morality free existence

The slide has been going on for a long, long time. One notable event in the slide was the Bill Clinton era in which people openly decided that character didn't matter.

I think people today feel that character does matter, political correctness is killing us, and honesty in government is almost completely lacking. Trump is attracting attention, in part, because he has really valid ideas (on immigration, taxes) but also because people think he's blunt and honest and willing to say the stuff that others are afraid to say.

People are hungry for a moral society. They know that what we have today is broken. It has to start with honesty.

That’s the best line in the entire article, and entirely true. And the GOP still hasn’t got a clue...they’re doing everything they can think of to torpedo Trump’s efforts, and not even thinking about looking in the mirror...

I think we are going to see a lot of people coming out to vote both in the primaries and the general for GOP that haven’t in a long time because of Trump. I travel a lot and the people that I overhear talking are talking about Trump and Sanders and while it isn’t scientific politics being what it is when you start seeing average people being vocal this early in the stage something is up. I’ve been working in RI and overheard a guy trying to win over a Chinese lady who clearly had supported Obama to Trump. Trump appears to be very popular in the North East.

Trump though if he wants to get out these new/infrequent voters especially to the primaries he had better be making sure they are registered.

The Trump charge is not so much a vote for Trump and his policies as it is a slap in the face of the old time GOP that no longer speaks for conservatism. The last GOP conservative was Reagan, and he did work for a smaller gov’t. Personally, I’d enforce the current immigration laws to the hilt, freeze non-military gov’t spending, replace the tax code with a flat (not Fair) tax on both personal and corporate income, and kill the EPA and other regulatory agencies who think they can circumvent Congressional approval. I’d also try to find a Congress who do what they were elected to do: Provide social overhead capital and solve problems rather than just fret about their own reelection. I’d also pass a law that says:
“Any elected official who approves a spending budget that leads to 3% or more increase in the deficit cannot sit for reelection”. I’d jump at the chance to help such a person. Compare those goals with what we see coming from the current GOP leadership and its business-as-usual-to-get-me-reelected.

Gee Kevin....when I read the title of the OP, I thought they were talking about the google-eyed Circus Geek Jeb....but it devolved into something anti-Trump. I guess one could expect that now because collective establishment is so afraid of him.

This: If the future of all free civilization didn’t rest so much on it’s outcome... is ESPECIALLY telling. And in trying on your horse crap about "vetting" [Trump] in the face of TWO elections of the Kenyan is patent bullshit.

If Trump weren't running, those words never would have been uttered as they should have in 2008 and in 2012 or a hundred other times with all the leadership elections.

The truth is that there is only one, two at most, candidates right now on the Republican slate that resonate with the core disgust at the betrayal of GOPe leadership, and he is the man about which all these "concern" articles are written.

Because you mention Huckabee or drive-by Jeb as if the name legitimizes the Trump hate doesn't hide the real motive.

Trump isn't my choice by any means, but I certainly don't think he is as dangerous as Jeb or near a dozen of the others. He scares the crap out of all you "concern" capos and you're all doing your level best to take him out. See what happens, suckers.

I’m in Dave Brat’s district ... the DB who took down Eric Cantor. Before that election, the excitement was almost like a hum of electricity in the air ... if I saw someone with a DB sticker on their car in a parking lot, I gave them a thumbs up - got one back and we’d go our separate ways, smiling to ourselves. We’re still smiling, by the way, but back to my point. I’m seeing/feeling the same thing with Trump. This undercurrent of discontent with GOPe & excitement over Trump is not something pollsters can measure or the media can really understand. The excitement is genuine and there’s not a single candidate out there (sorry Cruz) who is doing the same thing.

“...a man who brags how well he’s beat the system of free markets.”

What a silly statement. One builds wealth by properly using the tools provided by free markets, not by “beating” those tools.

You have to “beat” other systems to get rich. Capitalism is designed to provide the best chance for prosperity to the largest number of people, unlike other economic systems.

Carry on.

Immigration is the defining issue of our time. It affects everything else including jobs, wages, the economy, welfare payments, health care, etc.

“Productive?” I hope he was saying this with tongue in cheek. He produces nothing, only consumes electrons and ink.

People are hungry for a moral society. They know that what we have today is broken. It has to start with honesty.

A moral society cannot be provided by the government. A moral society starts in the families and in the churches.

The government reflects the people not the other way around. Our religious leaders and our adults set the foundation of society. Currently it is set by Hollywood movies, television, and hip hop music.

Freeze non-defense spending? Non-defense spending is mostly entitlements. You would freeze Social Security payments and Medicare reimbursement rates? In fact, you would have to cut Medicare reimbursement rates to accommodate the rapidly increasing numbers of new retirees. Entitlement reform is urgently needed. But it ain't gonna be easy.

The democrats are counting on uncontrolled entitlements driving us into de facto socialism and dramatically higher tax rates, just as they are counting on uncontrolled immigration producing a leftist electoral lock. In both cases, the drift of events works in their favor. All they have to do is demonize reformers. That is the challenge, and if we do not find a way to meet it, we might as well immigrate to Sweden or the Netherlands to find a relatively free market refuge.

I hate the use of "entitlement" for SS payments. As originally planned, only contributors got benefits, and that's the way it should be. But, you're right. Entitlements has to be brought under control. However, if you limit spending and do away with true "entitlement" programs (e.g., free cell phone...really??), perhaps it could be slowly reduced/phased out.

Just to show you how PO'ed I am, I'd like a law that says if you don't pay Federal Income taxes, you don't vote in federal elections. Nothing the in the game, why should you have a say? Think what that would do to spending.
