Liberal pundit Bob Beckel, a former co-host of "The Five" on Fox News, returned to cable television on CNN last week.
In June, Fox News released Beckel after what Politico described as a controversial stint on "The Five" where, among other things, he took contrary positions, was caught flipping off another co-host and pushed ending student visas for students from Muslim countries after the Boston Marathon bombing.
"The Five" had been rated No. 1 on basic cable at 5 p.m. for June, and its ratings for the 25-54 age demographic was up eight percent since Feb. 16, noted Politico, but Beckel had entered rehab therapy in April, reportedly for an addiction to prescription pain medication, and his last appearance on the show was Feb. 16.
"The topic was, of course, (Donald) Trump … whom CNN could find any one of 856 contributors and/or guests in the New York area to opine about," wrote Joe Concha of Mediaite. "But Beckel got the call – or more likely – he pitched CNN on giving him a few at-bats. … Beckel wants to show he's clean, sober and ready to work again."

I didn’t mind Beckel as a guest, but I gotta say I really disliked him on The Five (back when I cared about anything on Fox). He was just a bit overbearing in that format. Given that he was usually outnumbered already, he just seemed like a boar on that show. I generally liked him on Hannity and other shows when it was more of a discussion.
I watch almost no “news entertainment” that I don’t even know who these people are anymore.
Oh Lord. Really? I happen to like both of them. Fox let him leave or was fired so he has to have a job. He isn’t retiring yet so he might as well work a few more years unless we want to support him with welfare. I say let him work and there are only 3 news networks available in cable.
Beckel was 20 times better than Juan and 100 times better than the insufferable egomaniac Geraldo Rivera. Beckel is an Old School blue-collar/union Democrat, one of the last of them. Wrong on most everything, but he was Pro Life, anti-Islamic, and had a good heart.
With Geraldo/Juan + Screech PeRino “The Five” has jumped the shark then swallowed it whole. Expect that show’s ratings to decline rapidly.

Bob would make me crazy sometimes, but I always felt he had a heart and earnestly believed in what he was saying. I fondly remember his bits at Christmas of him decorating his home and then the episodes during the demise and eventual return of Twinkies.
I like Bob and wish him the best. Fox should have dumped Megyn and kept Bob as he is so much more pleasant and real. Maybe I’ll tune in to CNN for his show.

EH CNN is just inviting him on much the same way Newsmax uses Dick Morris. Bob was once on CNN so maybe he called them after Fox canned him. This and Pailn on OANN means that Fox is willing to lose talent.
The media pool is as contaminated as the political pool. The same people just circulate from one venue to another.
