A massive manhunt is underway in a suburb north of Chicago after a police officer was shot dead while on a routine patrol.
Three armed and dangerous suspects, two white and one black, are at large after the cop was gunned down in Fox Lake, Illinois, at around 8am.
Authorities confirmed the officer died at the scene. WGNTV says he was shot in the head.
The cop, who is yet to be identified but is reportedly a 32-year veteran of the department, was found in a marshy area stripped of his gun and other equipment.
FBI and US Marshals are part of the huge the search which covers a vast area near Route 21 - a major highway connecting Chicago, which is around 60 miles south.

It is up near Wisconsin border, fairly rural. They just caught one of the guys.
I obviously support the police efforts to track down the killers, but why are those police officers dressed like soldiers?

They just had a live press conference and didn’t say they had anyone in custody so either they are keeping mum about it or they haven’t caught a perp. Only time will tell. CNN is trying to find out the truth.

Which also seems a bit out of the ordinary. 2 whites and a black suspect? Generally, most the time blacks commit capers with other blacks, same with whites. Not saying this isn’t the case here, but just a bit odd if accurate.

First thought I had: “Silhouetted on the roofline.” Second: “Spotter is going to be stone deaf if sniper has to take a shot.” Third: “WTF kind of bracing position is that?”
All that said, God keep these men as they carry out a dangerous job. God be with the family of the slain officer.
I’ll give them a bit more credit than you are, They are “posing” for the cameraman, and the man with the rifle is simply observing through his scope much like the bino man is doing. I would doubt that they are in position to engage, and are in a safe enough place to let someone take their picture without everyone being a target. (I hope that’s the case, anyway)....
