Bernard Goldberg: Conservative Purists Could Cost the GOP the White House in 2016
National Review ^ | September 1, 2015 | Bernard Goldberg

Posted on 09/01/2015 3:49:31 PM PDT by EveningStar

... While 26 percent of Republicans say they would never vote for Trump, only 11 percent of Democrats say they would never vote for Clinton. Democrats don’t have the same kind of ideologically pure wing that has hurt GOP presidential candidates in the past. Democrats, it seems, are more practical. They may prefer Bernie Sanders, or one of the others, but when push comes to shove, almost all of them will vote for Clinton. Why? They want to win.

I recently received an e-mail from someone named Carl who described himself as a conservative Christian, and he wrote, "I have voted Republican since Eisenhower beat Stevenson, and if Jeb, Christie, Kasich, or Graham are nominated, I WILL STAY HOME!" ...

These purists have told me that there's little or no difference between a moderate Republican and a liberal Democrat. They're delusional, of course, blinded by their hard-right ideology, but that's what they believe nonetheless. And depending on who the GOP nominee is, they could represent big trouble for the party ...

Bernie, why doesn’t your side fold for a change? We conservative purists have been toeing your line for decades and we’re not all that happy about where it’s gotten us.

Translation: Americans should abandon their principles and join forces with their corrupt and amoral congressmen.

RINOs and liberal Democrats have a lot in common.

They both worship Obama.

I’m sick of it!

Damn. I was really hoping George Will had new volcanic vomitous droll we could all swarm too.

Bernie’s turn I guess to pay tribute to his MSM masters for a guest appearance.

It’s all poop.

We've been warning them for years this was going to happen. It's not my flippin fault if they force another Rino down our throats and he loses.

For heavens sake, the purist shouldn't be in support of Trump, yet look at his poll numbers. Enough people are mad and they want someone with fire and passion.

Enough of the pussy footing around liberal appeasers. We will settle for anyone willing to fight the enemy. And for those who apparently need help identifing that target its the democrats.

On the other hand, conservatives believe that Uniparty traitors to republican ideals gave Obama a win in 2012, have been his biggest enablers in the senate and congress, and are now fighting hard to prevent a conservative reformer from winning the nomination this year.

So, Goldberg has been lying to us about being so smart for years now.

He can’t even figure out why his conclusion is irrelevant to us.

We are not in favor of a Republican President. We are in favor of hiring someone who will reverse the damage that both Dems and pubbies have caused this once-great nation for many years now.

I voted for Bush in 92 and Dole in 96. And Bush in 2000/2004, and McCain and then Romney. I have never voted 3rd party in my life, for any office.

But if Jebbie is nominated, I will vote Constitution or some other 3rd party. I will never cast another vote for another Bush, ever again, for as long as I live.

I swear.

The GOP has shown us that putting a Republican in office is worthless, unless that Republican is also a Conservative.

The myth of the “electable centrist” has been debunked.

Bernie is a strange one.

He can clearly see the corruption and moral bankruptcy of the left yet he seems to “hate” conservatives more than the left.

He is a safe commentator against the left. He is brought out anytime the left does something really bad. He will “tisk, tisk” and admit it looks bad, and then immediately find moral equivalency from something anything the right may have done.

I gave up on him and his opinions long ago. His bias may not be in favor of the left but it is clearly against the right.

“Hard-right ideology”

Funny, Bernard—I didn’t see you use the phrase “hard-left ideology.” Maybe from your position on the spectrum it doesn’t exist?

Have you seen a single poll showing Dem voters peeling off for Trump? No, you haven’t, because they *ARE*. Although I think RATS have given up on trying to steal ‘16 through the fraud method... even they don’t have that kind of fancy footwork perfected.
