Rowan County, Kentucky, Clerk Kim Davis releases statement [sodomite unions]

ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. —Late Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to extend the temporary stay of a federal court order involving Rowan County Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis.

The federal court previously ordered Davis to issue marriage licenses to the plaintiffs who filed suit against her.

Liberty Counsel represents Davis and appealed that order.

The lower court order was temporarily stayed until Aug. 31, but now that the Supreme Court has declined to act, the stay of the order is no longer in effect.

In light of these developments, Davis released the following statement:

I have worked in the Rowan County Clerk's office for 27 years as a Deputy Clerk and was honored to be elected as the Clerk in November 2014, and took office in January 2015. I love my job and the people of Rowan County. I have never lived any place other than Rowan County. Some people have said I should resign, but I have done my job well. This year we are on track to generate a surplus for the county of 1.5 million dollars.

In addition to my desire to serve the people of Rowan County, I owe my life to Jesus Christ who loves me and gave His life for me. Following the death of my godly mother-in-law over four years ago, I went to church to fulfill her dying wish. There I heard a message of grace and forgiveness and surrendered my life to Jesus Christ. I am not perfect. No one is. But I am forgiven and I love my Lord and must be obedient to Him and to the Word of God.

I never imagined a day like this would come, where I would be asked to violate a central teaching of Scripture and of Jesus Himself regarding marriage. To issue a marriage license which conflicts with God's definition of marriage, with my name affixed to the certificate, would violate my conscience. It is not a light issue for me. It is a Heaven or Hell decision. For me it is a decision of obedience. I have no animosity toward anyone and harbor no ill will. To me this has never been a gay or lesbian issue. It is about marriage and God's Word. It is a matter of religious liberty, which is protected under the First Amendment, the Kentucky Constitution, and in the Kentucky Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Our history is filled with accommodations for people's religious freedom and conscience. I want to continue to perform my duties, but I also am requesting what our Founders envisioned - that conscience and religious freedom would be protected. That is all I am asking. I never sought to be in this position, and I would much rather not have been placed in this position. I have received death threats from people who do not know me. I harbor nothing against them. I was elected by the people to serve as the County Clerk. I intend to continue to serve the people of Rowan County, but I cannot violate my conscience.

How can we call an “Unholy” union “Holy Matrimony”?

Obviously we can't. Nor can we take as credible a person whose entire life completely contradicts her present, current grandstanding.

hypocrite

This is exactly how it looks to any objective observer: an intelligence-insulting level of hypocrisy.

I know someone who is just like that. Four kids by four separate men, now married to a fifth who hates her because she mistreats him, tells anyone within earshot how incredibly Christian she is, and continues to be a liar and a thief all the while.

People like that are losing horses who shouldn't be bet on, and we definitely should not let our side in the fight over marriage be championed by people such as this. They are mentally unstable, unreliable people and adhering to them makes their supporters look mentally unstable as well. Losing tactics all the way.

It cannot be that there are no people who actually live a genuine Christian life to be found to champion the cause of the traditional institution of marriage.

So, that means we know something that God doesn’t?

Hi Mr. Lucky,
I’m not sure whether your reply is a serious question, or a snarky attempt at humor. But I’m going to assume the best, and give you the best answer I can.

When a person accepts Christ as their Savior, their spirit is reborn and they are forever after indwelt by the Holy Spirit of God. Their past is washed away, and the perfect righteousness of Christ is imputed to them, so that whenever God the Father looks at them thereafter, He doesn’t see them and their shortcomings; He sees the perfect righteousness of His Son, that’s been credited to their account.

The Plan of Salvation God has provided to us is so thorough and complete; and so unimaginably generous, that it really seems almost too good to be true. In regard to your question about God’s not remembering our sins once they are covered by the blood of Christ; there are many scriptures that allude to this. I’ll list a few here. If you wish to dig deeper, dust off your Bible and dig into it.

Psa 103:10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
Psa 103:11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
Psa 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
Psa 103:13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.
Psa 103:14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

Heb 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

Heb 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
Heb 10:15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
Heb 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

As a closing illustration as to what I mean: In the Book of Acts, the early Believers were persecuted by a Pharisee named Saul of Tarsus, who thought he was doing God’s work by persecuting and even killing Christians; to the point of holding the coats of other Jews while they stoned a young Christian named Stephen to death. Shortly thereafter, God struck Saul down while he was enroute to Damascus to arrest some more Christians. Saul surrendered to Christ, and subsequently his name was changed to Paul, and he was made an Apostle.

Later on in Paul’s ministry and writings, Paul makes the statement, “we have wronged no man.” Whaaat?! What about the stoning of Stephen, and all the other Christians you persecuted? Well, that stuff was all washed away and blotted out when Saul surrendered to Christ and was born again spiritually. There’s no longer a record of it.

If you’ve never experienced this forgiveness and cleansing and rebirth, you need to take care of it without delay. When you leave this life there are only 2 possible destinations. Up or down. Heaven or Hell. If you spurn or neglect Christ’s free Salvation, the worst destination is automatic.

Goodbye.

Nobody is protesting Protestants. The protests are against assertions which are disrespectful insults to intelligence.

“oh hai that serial child rapist converted after five minutes in prison! He’s forgiven, release him!!”

Come on, now. If Hillary Clinton claimed she saw the light tomorrow, would you really a) believe her; and b) forgive her?

Here in the Bible Belt this “I accepted Jesus now I am forgiven my past transgressions” line is widely and properly known to be the opening line of someone looking to steal everything that’s not nailed down, the moment your back is turned. Anyone who would buy it when another person makes that claim is a sucker.

I don’t doubt Salvation. I was questioning whether there is anything in Heaven or Earth the God doesn’t know.

Mr. Lucky,
That is just one little aspect of what I meant when I said that The Plan of Salvation is SO big, so thorough, so powerful, so generous that it seems too good to be true.

God hates sin. But his plan at Creation was to have a forever family to love Him back. Then along came satan, Adam’s rebellion, and sin, seemingly dashing God’s plan. But none of that came as a surprise to God. God foresaw it all, and between Him and His only begotten Son, They agreed on a Plan of Salvation, in which the Son, sinless and perfect in every way, would come to Earth as a human being, virgin born to retain His purity, and eventually be crucified and shed His sinless blood to pay for the sins of the entire world. That is why Christ is/was referred to as The Lamb that was slain before the foundation of the world. Before God ever created a grain of sand, it was already settled, that someday Christ would die to redeem the human race.

The beating and flogging He took before the crucifixion, the spikes through his hands and feet and the crown of thorns were the small change of the transaction. The heavy duty stuff; the part Christ dreaded so badly that He sweated great drops of blood in the Garden of Gethsemene was that He knew that once He was nailed to the cross, the Father would place upon his sinless, holy and pure soul EVERY sin and/or shortcoming of ANY and ALL kind of every sinful human such as I; and then that God would pour upon Him and His soul, all the wrath and vengeance that a Holy God would EVER have against sin and sinners for all time.

While on the cross, every sin, every disease, every impurity ever known to mankind was poured into His being, from athsma to syphillus to AIDS to tuberculosis, to you-name-it. The Scriptures say that during those 3 hours, Christ’s body, His appearance, his visage was so marred, so devastated, that if it hadn’t become pitch dark and hidden the the spectacle from human view, He would not have been recognizable as a human being. With no irreverence intended, I believe that if it would have been visible, His body would have resembled a hunk of rotten carrion hanging there. In those 3 hours, a Just and Holy Judge poured out every scintilla of His wrath against sin, so that when Christ cried out, “It is finished!”, it truly WAS finished for all time and eternity.

So now, along comes Tommy Tucker, hears the Gospel message, realizes he’s a lowlifed sinner and needs a Savior; and in dumb, humble faith in God’s Word, confesses his sins and invites Christ to wash and cleanse him, to come into his heart and be his Savior. And Christ did. I’m not the same person. God’s Word says so.

Christ said that, “He that cometh unto me, I will in no wise cast out.” He said, “I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish. Neither shall anything or anyone pluck them out of my hand.” And all down through history prior to the Cross; and in the Gospels and the Epistles we are promised that once we receive Christ as our Savior, all our sins, past, present and future are under the blood and never remembered against us FOREVER.

Yes, it’s mind-boggling. But I take God at His Word, and out of gratitude for a GUARANTEED home with God for ETERNITY, I show my gratitude by walking as close to God and Christ as a fallible, bumbling human such as I can do. And not a day goes by that I don’t look up toward Heaven and say out loud, “Thank you Father. Thank you Jesus. I love you back, and I will praise and thank you eternally as I enjoy the wonders of your infinite Universe in my Glorified Body, just like Christ had when He walked out of the tomb on that First Easter Morning. It’s free and available to EVERYONE. But we must personally confess our NEED of it, and ask Him for it, and have a teeny little bit of faith, even as a grain of mustard seed that He’s as good as His Word.

Grab your Bible, turn to Matthew, and read all about it.

Blessings.

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but there's a difference between a forgiving God and a forgetful God.

God doesn't forgive because He's forgetful; He forgives because he's Gracious. God knows everything (1 John 3:20) and yet even knowing our every sinful thought and deed is so Gracious that He forgives those who believe in Christ as their Savior.

Then you’ll have to rewrite the Scriptures. The ones I originally sent you said, “their sins will I remember no more.”

What would you call that? He forgets our sins, when and ONLY when they have been covered by the blood of Christ. That ONLY happens when we repent and ask forgiveness and cleansing.

If He did remember THOSE sins He’d be Welshing on the sacred compact He had with His Son, Who bled and died to pay for them.

If you’re REALLY concerned about it, I suggest you read and study it out for yourself. I apparently am not getting through.

Goodbye.

You might want to contemplate whether the Hebrew words for "remember" (Zakhar) and "forget" (Shakach and Nashah) are exact antonyms.

While in 21st century English, "remember" and "forget" describe largely mental activity, in the old Testament they described actions as well as thoughts. To remember someone was to take action with regard to that person while to forget someone was to forsake him. Read, for instance, Hosea 9:9 or Ezekiel 33: 15-16.

When God promises to "remember not" our sin, He doesn't forget the sin (or forsake us), he promises that He will not act upon it in judgment of us.

Obviously you are a Leftist. It is self-evident to any conservative that Truth, God's self-evident truth premised upon Natural Law remains truth REGARDLESS the messenger. Attacking the messenger is a Leftists tactic. Your graphic is Leftist propaganda. The credibility of Kim Davis is irrelevant when it comes to the credibility of God and His self-evident natural laws.

Bullcrap. You just equated the punishment imposed for a crime with things that are not criminal.

Further, with your logic, you cannot speak of morality, as you have also sinned.

According to the Bible, adultery is a crime, and a major one.

If you don’t believe that then you don’t follow the Bible. It is not even slightly ambiguous on the topic. And it is not an obscure reference, this is Ten Commandments material.

Not even slightly. I’m a resident of the Bible Belt where every crook, criminal and cretin claims to be suddenly faithful in order to justify whatever they got caught doing.

If you take these claims at face value you will not be left with the shirt on your back.

Or did you miss that part?
