It’s a fact/joke/point. Not a smear. Humor, try it.

Ronald Reagan never paid off Al Sharpton or paled around with street thugs.

He would have found that repulsive to say the least.

Imagine his pro-abortion extremist sister on the Supreme Court....

wow

Donald Trump told Mark Halperin yesterday that his sister, a federal judge, would be a “phenomenal” Supreme Court justice. He also said that “we will have to rule that out now, at least.”

“for now”, maybe not when he is president though

It is only a matter of time until Trump supporters here embrace socialist healthcare too

They already have. I have posted this before and they defended it.

• "If you can’t take care of your sick in the country, forget it, it’s all over. ... I believe in universal healthcare," ~ liberal Donanld Trump

• "I would put forth a comprehensive health care program and fund it with an increase in corporate taxes" ~ liberal Donald Trump

• "The Canadian plan also helps Canadians live longer and healthier than America. … We need, as a nation, to reexamine the single-payer plan, as many individual states are doing." ~liberal Donald Trump

If Trump paid Sharpton for that reason he is a weasel.

If he paid off Sharpton..In his Old ROLE .one would suspect that he would act in a similar manner...in his New Role.

same tactics..different recipients...

these are very simple matters that seem to escape serious inspection and consideration.

So maybe he is a wimp, but I think he gives money to Sharpton because he's a wimp, but i think it's because he likes Sharpton and they are cronies.

Given his long liberal past, I agree.

I suspect some already do... the word “conservative” is becoming NEBULOUS...

It’s a fact that he was a Democrat. But the implications you make aren’t. He wasn’t a Democrat a few tears before he was president. He wasn’t a Democrat when they were a far left party. He wasn’t a Republican, then a Democrat, then only became a Republican again when he had something to gain by it. Sorry to rain your anti-Reagan parade.

GeronL, I have heard him deliver the same comments on Obamacare over and over.

He states he wants a robust private sector marketplace.

He does talk about the uninsured, but lets be frank about that.

Have that 45 million ever gone completely without health care?

The answer to that is no.

Even before Obamacare, those people could walk into any E.R. and get coverage. If they didn’t have adequate income, they could get on MediCal or the equivalent in other states.

Today they have official coverage. We pay for that too.

Obama is moving toward single payer. Trump wants to expand it in the other direction with more insurance competition lowering rates and provide a more diverse set of policies.

He has also talked about a private sector solution to the uninsured. This could take the form of innovative insurance policies with high deductibles, so the federal government wouldn’t be stuck for anything over the first $10,000.

Maybe their are other innovative ideas out there too. Trump has said he wants to talk to hospitals, physicians, and insurance companies.

The private sector insurance is private insurance. Period. It’s not government insurance. For those with very little income, perhaps something can be done that is much less expensive than what we have ever paid out for it.

We will see.

I have not seen him talk about big taxes on the rich to pay for insurance.

Yet "conservatives" ignoring his very liberal past have gone ga ga over his campaign promises, promises made by a liberal during an election cycle.

Incredible.

Traditional conservatism within the framework dictated by the GOP at the national level is dead. It’s worse than dead, it’s an undead zombie that is trotted out to give us well meaning conservative rubes something to follow.

Is Trump magic? Perhaps, when viewed from the GOPe plantation. Perhaps there’s another point of view.

Let’s look at the top of the home page of Free Republic:

“Free Republic is the premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We’re working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America. And we always have fun doing it. Hoo-yah!”

Independent, grass-roots conservatism isn’t GOPe sanctioned conservatism. The GOPe hates independent, grass-roots conservatives. Trump fails the traditional conservative purity tests, but he is independent of the Republican leadership that despises and mocks grass roots conservatism.

He is rooting out political fraud and corruption by pointing out that the real masters behind Boehner and McConnell aren’t the voters, but the big money Pac donors, the same forces that want the low wage labor that unchecked immigration brings, that want Obamacare implemented and cemented, that want Fedgov to indoctrinate the next generation via Common Core and the federalization of education.

Does he champion causes that further conservatism in America? Well, he fails the “real conservative” test on several issues, but he offers the only viable choice to break out of the death spin that we are in.

As a bonus, Trump sure looks like he’s having fun doing this.

Trump isn’t magic. He’s not perfect. But he’s offering middle class Americans a way out of the box career politicians have put us in.

There is risk, of course. He could be a snow job, a liberal or a liberal plot, but what does it matter? Unless we let him have a chance to upset the rigged game, we either get used to our chains or things get ugly.

I’ll take a chance on the magic showman. I don’t think he’s a “real conservative” but there’s a chance he really loves what this country has made possible for him, and he has become aware that it’s slipping away and wants to do something about it, even if he’s been too busy being Trump to focus on being a “real conservative” his whole life.

he talks a lot

but we’ve already been told he doesn’t mean a lot of it (by his supporters)

Maybe they should put 2 and 2 together.

So you sort of think Pam Geller is more important than paying down the national debt and building up our military.

You think she’s more important that getting our borders under control. You think she’s more important that defunding Planned Parenthood centers that continue to perform abortions.

Hmm...
