Carly Fiorina Says Kentucky Clerk Should Issue Gay Marriage Licenses or Resign [Cruz,Paul disagree]
The Christian Post ^ | 9/3/15 | Ray Nothstine

Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina offered her take on the growing controversy of the Kentucky county clerk who is refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses because it violates her religious conscience.

Fiorina spoke on Hugh Hewitt's radio show Thursday saying that religious liberty is clearly under attack but that rights of religious conscience is less clear when an individual is an "arm of the government."

"First, I think that we must protect religious liberties with great passion and be willing to expend a lot of political capital to do so now because it's clear religious liberty is under assault in many, many ways," Fiorina declared.

"Having said that, when you are a government employee, I think you take on a different role," she added. "When you are a government employee as opposed to say, an employee of another kind of organization, then in essence, you are agreeing to act as an arm of the government."

Fiorina, who has risen in the polls after a strong debate performance, is expected to be in CNN's Sept. 16 debate featuring top tier candidates, which is determined by polling.

And now that Carly has just bit the dust with that sentiment, it’s time for her to withdraw her candidacy ...

The incredibly simple and effective solution is to get government out of the personal affairs of citizens by not issuing marriage licenses at all.

Marriage = 1 man and 1 woman. NOT 1 man, 1 woman, 1 government.

That would not surprise me at all. She was a member of the McCain team also.

You will probably be ok with taking pastors to jail for refusing to sign marriage licenses too.

This is a silly comparison. I belong to a traditional Catholic church where the priests responded to the U.S. Supreme Court's "gay marriage" decision by surrendering their authority to sign marriage licenses in this state. This is exactly what should be done by Christians who find themselves in the same position as this county clerk. When Caesar demonstrates beyond any doubt that he is a diabolical servant of Satan, you don't negotiate terms of employment with him.

Trump hasn’t come out on this issue yet.

Didn't think so. I don't think Trump has a handle on this whole Christian thing yet. Other than to claim he is one.

You would think it would be obvious that this is the correct, God-fearing view.

Seems that there are many who, where the rubber meets the road, really worship the State.

Any religious organization worth its salt would take the same position as this.

Look, she was voted in, up to her employers - the people to vote her out. Especially as this was not law when elected. It is not like she is only one in world can sign the damn things.
Pisses me off. I knew gays in the 70s who were married by a priest from UF campus catholic church. When they broke up they freaking took off their rings. That was before they were flaunting everything in every one’s faces. As my mom used to say “I don’t go out in the streets and yell I am straight.

Trump has to think about it, and he seems to be a slow thinker, usually late on the issues

Surrendering has been a long held strategy for many Christians. Guess what, it ain’t going to work since they want to sue your church out of existence. Course nobody will be left to defend you since all of the others have been punished accordingly.

“I agree with Carly but think it’s awful that she’s going to jail. That’s scary.”

It is scary. The United States now not only has the highest per capita incarceration rate in the world, but now has branched out into thought crimes. The United States now holds prisoners of conscious for political crimes.

From Wikipedia:

“GULag or Gulág is an acronym for the Russian term Glavnoye Upravleniye ispravitelno-trudovyh Lagerey, ... or

“Chief Administration of Corrective Labour Camps”

- the bureaucratic name of the governing board of the Soviet labour camp system, and by metonymy, the camp system itself.

...the KY law was struck down, so that there’s now no law under which to issue marriage licenses.

That's the issue here - there's nothing for the Clerk to violate, except the federal judge's non-statutory order to a State clerk. It's all screwed up!
