I listened to the interview. Trumps personal attack afterward was a serious problem for me. I love his bravado - up to a point. That showed his incredible immaturity. That trait in a man as powerful as him is VERY dangerous. Sure, it looks great when he attacks his enemies, but when it is turned on you, you may feel a bit different.
And trust me, on a LOT of issues, conservatives are his enemies.
To be completely transparent, I LOVE his winning attacks on PC, but this sort of thing is a problem. And I mean a SERIOUS problem. I posted a vanity thread a couple of days ago about the risk of him becoming the “Strong Man” in “The Road to Serfdom” and this latest response pegged my “concern” needle.
Google “The road to serfdom cartoon” to get the short and quick reference version. It’s all there and the parallels I’m seeing in those that are defiantly supporting Trump are frightening. On Medven yesterday (And I’ve attacked Medved many times over the last few months for being so anti-Trump) a caller, in essence, said that if Trump was given dictator-like powers he’d really have this country on the right path.
IOW, as with Obama, it is not the candidate I “fear”. Rather, it is the attitude of their supporters and the power they would give him.
disemboweled the US Senate to enable a Treaty to be passed by a minority and is thus giving nukes and billions to the now-allied Enemy Quds forces who murdered Americans for decades.Ted Cruz is as guilty as any. He's not worthy to be President by that deed alone. And now he has the gall to hold a rally to stop what he, himself helped to create.
Brilliant conservative, constitutional lawyer my ass.
I hope ALL the signatory Senators to the Corker bill rot in hell.
I never considered Hewitt a conservative. He’s more of a Boehner kind of guy.
The bottom line is Trump doesn’t *need* the MenSeekingMen, as evidenced by his mowing them down and moving them out of the way.
That they can’t fathom or deal with. They’re becoming the Hunted, not the hunters of the last 20 years.
Imagine if Trump said he was going to RESTORE the American Media such that Americans would consume it again and it wouldn’t require 100% GOV subsidy to even breathe. The Horror!
He did finally lose me though. He lost me with his third rate insult.I'm thinking he lost you long before that...Nice try though
“It didnt bother him that Kelly and Hewitt are conservative icons”
Who knew?
Agree. I would have said that I only name people deserving the respect of being called by name, the rest are just Islamist scum.
I’m thinking he lost you long before that...Nice try though
The personal attack on HH caused me to give back the ring.
You can believe it or not. Your choice. Opinions vary. ;-)
“Kelly and Hewitt are conservative icons”
Politico: Is there anything they don’t know?
I was listening to HH when Trump made that supposed gaffe. It did not hurt him. I thought he came off well because I thought HH’s question was ludicrous.
A president shouldn’t be wasting time “down in the weeds” worrying about the constantly changing flow of relatively obscure personalities. He should be working at the higher strategic level to eradicate terrorism and defeat our adversaries around the globe. I wish Trump would have brushed Hewitt off with a brief remark along those lines.
Im sure Obama knew much more about the muslim world than Trump does but Obama has proven that his knowledge and insight about the rest of the world was and is laughable.
Obozo knows their names because they are his friends.
“He lost me with his third rate insult. Really bad form. Hes a really sore loser, and he has power. That makes him dangerous to those with whom he disagrees. On some issues, that would be me - and you.”
I’m glad you finally see that. When he is not adored and flattered by someone, he uses his power to try to take them out. Uses twitter to call them tacky names. He has a toddler fit, screaming and kicking. Can you imagine him on twitter, calling Putin tacky names?
I liked the Reagan quote Rush brought up yesterday It is not important that I should know their names. What is important is they should know MY name.
Great quote! apropos
Exactly. I had absolutely no problem with Trumps response to HH.
But his name calling afterward really bothered me. It exposes a thought process that I am simply not comfortable with in a man so powerful as he is and, more importantly, the power we are considering giving him. I very much liked the bravado against PC and his not putting up with BS, but this really did cross a line for me.
The thing is, EVERYTHING he does I see through the lens of me not agreeing with him on everything. How will he treat us when push comes to shove on certain issues?
My general rule is that I’ll start worrying about a candidate if he’s not familiar with someone or something that I’m very familiar with. I have a lot of time to read articles and keep up, since I’m not running for President.
In 2011, Herman Cain didn’t know what the “Right of Return” meant regarding Israel and the Palestinians. That scared me because it had been in the headline the prior week. Cain should have known that, it was hard to miss. Then the bimbos and game over.
In this case, I probably read something about the Quds months ago, but no, I couldn’t tell you a damn thing more about them either. I do know there are 3 overall factions fighting in Syria, the government, ISIS, and Al Quieda, and of them, the government is the best of the three (relatively speaking). That’s about all that I or Trump needs to understand...the rest is for policy wonks at State.
I'm reasonable sure Hugh Hewitt had to look it up or be told before he presented his question.
