A husband and wife have been charged with the murder of Texas cop Don Allen, authorities have announced.
Abilene Police Officer Allen, 27, was found dead Monday night inside his home in circumstances described as “clearly suspicious.”
Now police have arrested and charged Phillip Walter, 29, and Violetta Walter, 30, for the murder of the off-duty officer.
The two suspects were linked to the murder by stolen property taken from Allen's home in Clyde, reported KTXS.com.

A married couple in Texas has been accused of killing an off-duty cop in the town of Abilene. The pair, Violet, 30, and Phillip Walter, 29, were arrested in Abilene, Texas, on the night of September 3. Their arrest comes four days after Abilene Police Officer Don Allen was found dead in the town of Clyde. He was off duty at the time. After his discovery, authorities were quick to announce that they believed Allen had been the victim of a homicide.

Law Enforcement kept quiet while the investigation was ongoing. It seems to me that the lag time between news of his death and the arrests helped to limit its currency in the news. His funeral and the honoring of him were very big local news. Hundreds made his funeral, thousands lined the miles as his remains were brought from his nearby hometown of Clyde to Abilene for the funeral.
