Trump: 'I always felt that I was in the military'

Donald Trump did not serve in the military, but according to a report, the Republican presidential candidate and multibillionaire business tycoon said in a forthcoming book that he still "always felt that I was in the military" because he attended a military boarding school and "dealt with those people."

According to an upcoming biography and interview excerpts shared with The New York Times, Trump said that his five years at the New York Military Academy provided him with "more training militarily than a lot of the guys that go into the military."

“After the Vietnam War, all those military academies lost ground because people really disrespected the military,” Trump told the author in an excerpt shared with the Times. “They weren’t sending their kids to military school. It was a whole different thing, but in those days — 1964 I graduated — that was a very good thing or tough thing, and it was a real way of life at military academy.”

I'm not embarrassed about what Trump has built:

To be honest I never heard of the New York Military Academy. So, unlike most Freepers I decided to look into the matter. The New York Military Academy is one of the oldest military schools in the country. It has filed Chapter 11 this year because there are only 100 cadets.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Military_Academy

History
NYMA has a long history as a university-preparatory school with a military structure that enrolls students from the New York metropolitan area as well as around the country and the world. “NYMA was founded in 1889 by Charles Jefferson Wright, an American Civil War veteran and former schoolteacher from New Hampshire who believed that a military structure provided the best environment for academic achievement, a philosophy to which the school still adheres. Wright's successor, Sebastian Jones, presided over the academy from 1894 to 1922, guiding it during its most critical period of growth from a young and small institution of 48 cadets, through a disastrous fire in 1910, and throughout an extensive reconstruction program.”[3] It previously admitted students in fifth grade but is now predominantly a high school.

NYMA is now one of the oldest and best-known military schools in the United States. Over time, the campus expanded from 30 acres (12 ha) to a peak of 550 acres (220 ha), and enrollment peaked at 525 students during the 1960s. Girls have been admitted since 1975. The Academy is a member of the Association of Military Colleges and Schools of the United States, as well as several other school associations.

Student life
NYMA strives to provide its students with a structured environment, placing an emphasis on leadership development. Although 80% of the Corps of Cadets comes from the Tri-State area, there is a large and growing mix of international students who enjoy the local activities that Cornwall-on-Hudson and the region have to offer.

The days at NYMA begin at 6:00 am and typically end at 10:00 pm.Cadets attend grade-specific classes during that time, and also participate in organized or intramural sports, activities, and study hall. During closed weekends, cadets are expected to attend additional leadership training, drill & ceremony, and maintain the appearance of their respective barracks. Upon gaining the opportunity for an open weekend, cadets in good academic standing can apply for weekend furlough.

Aside from Rick Perry, by attending military school Trump has more military experience than any other GOP contender. That’s sad.

Good questions, and I don’t know the answers. Most of his empire was actually based on a combination of speculation on his father’s real estate and his connection with the gambling and casino world (which is where most of his money and most of his bankruptcies came from).

Nobody wants to ask him serious questions, though, because he immediately attacks and says it’s unfair.

He had four of his his many businesses go bankrupt. His father's real estate portfolio was $200 million based mainly in NYC. Much of Trump's real estate ventures are outside NYC.

Who has asked him the questions I have posed?

I don’t think anybody has asked him those questions, but he’s been so much on the attack that nobody will.

Really? You mean Megyn Kelly didn't waste an opportunity to ask such questions during the first debate?

So, according to your answer our MSM is to afraid to ask pertinent business questions?

“Who else, outside of Graham and Perry, have any military experience”.

I wouldn’t call Linda Graham going to basic training for a couple weeks, then serving in the reserves as once a month lawyer as having ANY MILITARY SERVICE! I seriously doubt he knows what hand to salute with.
