Hopefully no one loses their lives, prayers for the injured and those who've lost most everything.

I was in the area a couple months ago. Lots of dry fuel everywhere.

Over in neighboring Sonoma cty at a winery today noticed the highway patrol closing roads on the east side of healsberg due to fire danger. This was east oh rt 128 specifically at white oak and Robert young wineries

We’ve been choking on smoke from the Rough Fire burning west of us in the Sierra for weeks now, but this new fire in Lake County is really bad jazusamo, been following the news on it.

128 is closed, though you can still get to the casino (priorities, right? Talk about a real gamble).
Cooling towers at the Geysers thermal power plant are damaged.
Everything south of Clear Lake is closed and being evacuated.
There is zero containment.

Yes, I-M. I’ve been checking on it also and this was the first piece I’ve come across that listed the loss of numbers of structures lost in the Middleton fire.
Like you say, it’s really bad.

Would someone please provide the “name” given to this fire by the USFS. Thanks!

I know logging is a bad word to the left but it's possible to do it in a sustainable manner that leaves nice, open walkable forests rather than impenetrable tinder boxes.

Yawn.
When Calidiocracy starts maintaining proper fire breaks I might generate some sympathy.
As long as they continue to bring this on themselves nobody can really help them.
You can't help an addict until they are ready to stop getting high, and you can't help North Mexico with their annual self immolation until they are ready to section off the land with gaps in the vegetation wide enough to not be jumped by every breeze driven fire.
It's not a new concept. Fire breaks were built into the homesteading system in the nineteenth century.
Why is Mexifornia less capable of managing basic civil engineering than pre-civil war Kansas?
My give-a-damn is busted.

Environmentalists won’t allow logging or controlled burns. After all, they love the environment. And this is what we get as a result.
